Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Literacy

During our writing sessions, we have continued with our Poetry focus. Students have written alliteration poems, which are poems that contain the repetition of the same letter sound across the start of several words. For example, "Seven snakes slid down a slippery slope".

Students have also created ‘onomatopoeia’ snakes. Onomatopoeia means words that used to convey a specific noise, such as "whizz", "bang", and "crash".

We have continued reading the shortlisted Picture Storybooks. Year 1B have voted for ‘Truck Cat’ as their favourite book in the section. We made little paper buses after reading ‘We Live in a Bus’. This week, we have begun reading the Early Childhood selection, starting with the rhyming book, ‘One Little Dung Beetle’.
