We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Croydon Men’s Shed for helping us to create a brand-new tram picture for our playground. They have been working tirelessly to have this special project completed in time for our 100 Year Celebration, and we are so grateful for their dedication. This wonderful addition will not only brighten our playground, but will also tie our history to the original tram that was at Yarra Road Primary School many years ago.
As part of our upcoming 100 Year Celebration, we are putting together some fabulous hampers for our Silent Auction, and we would love your help to make them truly
special!
If you would like to contribute, we are after new items (big or small), such as:
Pet-themed goodies - e.g. pet toys, pet treats/chews, grooming, accessories
Art supplies or creations - e.g. paints, brushes, sketchbooks, craft kits, craft supplies
Beauty products or vouchers - e.g. skincare products, nail care kits, hair accessories
Sports gear or memorabilia – e.g. balls, caps, jerseys, water bottles, fitness equipment
Any other new items welcome - Other items you think could be included in the Silent Auction.

We would love to have your help on Sunday, 31st August, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for a Working Bee to refresh our school before our 100 Year Celebration. We have many options for families to select a time or job that suits you!
This is a great chance to come together as a school community, meet other parents/carers, and enjoy a morning of teamwork and fresh air. No special skills are needed, just a willingness to pitch in! If you have any gardening tools, gloves, or wheelbarrows, feel free to bring them along.
Children are welcome to attend under parent supervision, and we encourage everyone to come and be part of this rewarding project. Whether you can stay for half an hour or the full day, every bit of help makes a difference.
What we will be doing:
Gardening, planting and mulching
Cleaning and tidying outdoor spaces
If you can join us, please RSVP via the link below:
Thank you for helping us keep our school a beautiful, safe, and welcoming place for everyone!
We are thrilled to share that our students are now enjoying brand new basketball rings, generously donated by Ritchie Appleby. This amazing contribution has made a huge difference so our students can continue to play basketball for years to come.
A very special thank you also goes to our incredible parent helpers for coordinating the project, Ritchie Appleby, Tara Blair, Kelvin Moore, and Christopher Beasley, who went above and beyond to coordinate the removal of our old rings and provide expert support to get the new ones installed. Your time, effort, and know-how have made this project possible, and we are so grateful for your commitment to our school community.
Thanks to this wonderful teamwork between our donors and volunteers, our courts are looking fantastic and ready for lots of fun!
Our 100 Year Celebration is getting closer and closer and we couldn't be more excited! To help the day run smoothly we are asking the school community for volunteers.
Please click the button below to volunteer on the day.
There are different areas you can volunteer for, including; setting up, packing up, wrapping items, selling tickets, and working on stalls to name a few, with different times and days available.
We appreciate your help, as we know a celebration like this takes a whole community.
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning, and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. All families are invited to participate in the survey. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, or smartphones.
We will utilise the survey to plan for our School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. We thank you in advance for taking the time to participate.
Please speak to the office if you would like more information.
EACH - Growing Together Small Grants for Schools ($1,200)
Project Title: Healthy Harvest from Garden to Plate and Beyond
Yarra Road Primary School was successful in gaining a $1,200 grant to promote healthy eating through growing a variety of produce in our veggie garden, and tasting, exploring, and cooking food that has been grown with the children. Students will have the opportunity during our weekly lunchtime Environmental Club to assist Miss Ross and Mrs Macrae with this project. We have lots of exciting plans to develop our veggie patch area. Items were purchased from Bunnings this week. With the grant, we were able to purchase pea mulch, seedlings, garden arches, a greenhouse, a wheelbarrow, watering cans, and class sets of children’s gloves. A huge thank you to 3/4C for helping unload and store the items in our garden shed. We look forward to seeing lots of you down at the veggie patch in the next few weeks.
