Welcome back
I hope you have enjoyed the break from school routines, especially with the lovely weather we had over the break. There is a lot of information in our first newsletter so I hope you can take some time to read all of it to ensure you are up to date with what is happening.
During the holidays we took the opportunity to complete a number of projects including:
Installing a new shed for storage of valuable furniture and equipment.
Thank you to Ms. Scott for coordinating all these works, it is much appreciated. It is great to have a safe, high quality and lovely environment to work in.
Leave
This term we have several staff taking leave. This includes the following:
Mrs Davies (Bazec) will be taking family leave from Week 3
Some of the members of the leadership team are also taking a few days leave throughout the term and I will be on leave for Term 4. Thank you to Ms. Scott who will be Acting Principal in my absence.
Staffing – Term 4
Here are some updates regarding staffing this term. Mrs. Davies (Bazec) will be leaving shortly starting her family leave. We wish her all the best for her new role as mum.
Due to the continuing staffing shortage, we have made some changes to programs and roles. Unfortunately, there will be no Reading Intervention Program during Term 4 as both of our intervention teachers, Mrs. McLeod and Mrs. Gara will be in classrooms. Mrs. McLeod continues in Foundation C and Mrs. Gara will be teaching Mrs. Davies Year 6B class.
Other details for our shared classrooms include:
6B – Mrs. Italiano – Monday and Mrs. Gara Tuesday – Friday
3B – Mrs. North – Monday -Thursday and Ms. Elise Friday
Teaching Excellence Program 2025
Our school values the learning and development of our staff, and the positive impact this has on student outcomes and school improvement.
We are proud to share that Ms. Komp has continued their professional learning journey through the Teaching Excellence Program at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership.
This program enables teachers to advance their capabilities and excellence in teaching.
So far this year, Ms. Komp has participated in 3 discipline days and 3 Teaching Excellence Community Learning days. They have also completed a teacher inquiry project where they focused in on a particular teaching practice to improve the outcomes for students in their class. Currently, they are completing another inquiry to strengthen their teaching practice even further.
We have enjoyed the learnings that Ms. Komp has brought from the program and look forward to seeing how they work to continue to support student outcomes and wellbeing at our school.
We are proud that we have Ms. Komp representing our school and supporting the Academy in raising the status of this amazing profession!
Assembly
Please note that we will be having assembly every two weeks, beginning in Week 2. As always you are welcome to join us for assembly at 2:45pm but please wait until the end of the day to take your children home.
Last term of the year - Calendar
Term 4 is always a busy, exciting, and eventful time of year! With our end-of-year concert, graduation ceremonies, excursions, and plenty of learning still ahead, there’s a real buzz around the school.
Teachers will start some assessments later in the term and then they will be preparing reports. I know that students are working hard to finish the year on a high note. For some, this term brings big transitions—our Grade 6 students are getting ready for high school, and we’re warmly welcoming new Kindergarten students as they begin their school journey with the start of our Transition Program in Week 2. These changes can bring a mix of excitement and uncertainty but with families and school working together to support he students, we can help them navigate these changes with confidence and success.
Amidst all the activity, we know our school community will continue to focus on being our best selves, embracing learning, and treating one another with kindness and respect.
At the end of last term, you got a paper copy of the term calendar outlining the events for the term, so please keep this handy and refer to it regularly. It is also important to keep reading the weekly newsletter for updates and any new events.
Let’s make Term 4 a memorable one!
Kindest Regards,

Senka King
