Bus Loop Independence Procedures.

We have had three terms to introduce students to transitioning on and off the buses.

The goal for term 4 is that staff scaffold a plan to increase student independence, so students can transition to and from the buses with minimimal abd reducing staff support.

How do you do this:

  • Advise chaperones that the student does not need to wait for a staff member before exiting the bus (unless there is a written plan that is contrary to this).
  • Wait beside bus so when student alights you can use visuals or other prompts to encourage the student to go to the clasroom.
  • Gradually increase the distance that you are waiting from the bus.
  • Avoid taking one student to another bus to pick another student - you can catch up with the first student as they walk to class and assist them to gain some independence
  • Discuss with SSL or Learning Specialist for more challenging students.
  • Parents should write messages in the diary for school staff rather than verbal messages through the chaperones.

Going home:

  • Can you guide the student to the bus without holding hands - gently guiding with hand on back pack?
  • Can you use a visual, prompt or other motivator to encourage student towards the bus.
  • Show students how to line-up to wait their turn to get on the bus.

We are looking for more independent travells in the coming term.

End of Term Cleaning

We have been requested to stack furniture in the smallest footprint on the vinyl for term cleaning.

Facilities Maintenance:

Thank you to Jacob for keeping up with the maintenance items that are listed on SharePoint in Maintenance Log. Is something is broken and isn't fixed yet, check that you or somebody else has logged it. DO NOT wait until the end of term OHS inspections to list items. Classroom staff are responsible to notify Maintenance of any repairs that YOUR classroom needs.

Jacob diligently checks the Maintenace log every morning. He is not a mind reader.  We DO NOT expect him to remember anyone flagging something is broken as he walks past.

At times playgrounds and walkways can look a little "unloved". If you think an area could look better - put it on the Maintenace log so we can fix or improve it.

Classroom cleaning incidents during the day

Cleaning spills on Carpet:Staff are expected to cleanup spills, bodily fluids and other actions as thoroughly as they are able. If a deeper clean is required, notify Denise (0437851482), Frances (0457547597), or Mary (0467728193) so a spot steam clean if needed can be booked. Spot stem cleans occur at the end of the day.

Please use chalk to draw a mark around the spill, leaving a 20-30cm margin around the affected area. This will help the steam cleaner locate and treat the spill efficiently.

Cleaning spills on vinyl:Staff to clean up spills as thoroughly as possible. After cleaning, email or text Denise (0437851482), Frances (0457547597), or Mary (0467728193) to inform them of the spill and request a note in the Cleaners Logbook for additional cleaning, if needed.
