Our Learning - Weeks 1 & 2
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
*To identify the strengths that we use to help us play well with others.
*To describe the strengths that help us to work well as a team.
*To learn about sharing from Aboriginal perspectives.
English:
*Revise Heart words and speed sounds with the use of our Chitter Chatter Chant cards.
*To recognise the /f/ sound, consisting of consonant digraph ‘ph’ and identify words that have a /f/ sound in them (start/middle/end) and are spelt with the consonant digraph 'ph'.
*To recognise the /w/ sound, consisting of consonant digraph ‘wh’ and identify words that have a /w/ sound in them and are spelt with the consonant digraph 'wh'.
*Explore the parts of a narrative - beginning, middle, end, problem, solution and characters.
*To draw a picture and write a recount about their holidays.
*To practise writing sentences.
*Write sentences related to picture prompts.
*To draw the beginning, middle and end of a story.
Maths:
*To practise forming digits correctly and review prior learning.
*To describe position using ordinal words, such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so forth.
*To understand the difference between fair and unfair shares.
*To share a collection of objects between two groups.
Inquiry:
This term our Inquiry unit is on 'Toys'. We will be looking at current toys and various from the past. At the end of our unit, we will be designing and building our own toys with the use of recyclable materials.
*To discuss and describe current toys and discuss our own favourite toys.
*To discuss different toys from the past and the materials they were made from.

-Please send school summer hats with your child- Hillsmeade school hatsare required to be worn every day at school during recess and lunch play (during all of Term 4). Students that do not have their school hat will be required to play under the shade sails area.
