PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Our Middle and Senior students have thoroughly enjoyed their Volleyball unit. They have developed their setting, digging and serving skills and progressed to playing a Volleyball game with modified rules. 

The Junior students have finished the term focusing on team games. Through these team games, we have been developing our ability to work as a team, provide positive feedback and accept when we are out. 

LOTE - AUSLAN

Our Middle and Senior students have loved learning to communicate about the appearance of themselves and others through descriptive language. They have learnt to sign about different items of clothing and used their colour knowledge to form full sentences such as 'I have red hat' or 'I have blue shorts'.

Our Junior students have been completing alphabet games that encourage learning the Auslan alphabet. Fingerspelling is a vital skill and enhances confidence in all topics! Students have particularly enjoyed playing Auslan Bingo and Auslan Hangman!

STEAM: Science, Technology & The Arts

Term 3 week 9

We have been focussing on our Digital Safety online throughout the school. 

All classes have practiced how to create a strong password using letters, numbers and symbols to keep our information safe. We have discussed, watched videos and used interactive games to develop our understanding of personal and private information. We have learnt that information including our full name, address, birthday, age, school, account details and passwords are not to be shared with people we do not know. Asking permission when we are online. on to go online, being in spaces that are appropriate and asking for help when you are unsure are really important rules to follow 

3-6 had time to reflect upon their internet usage at home and were asked these questions to discuss and record with their peers-

What devices do you use at home?

Where do you use these devices to go online?

Does your family know when you are online?

Does your family know what you are doing online? 

Who do you talk to when you are online?

Do you know the people personally you are talking to online?

We also talked about our digital footprint and how everything we do online can be tracked, from online searches, photos, comments, views, likes, videos and more can be pieced together to create an image of us. We know the internet is a wonderful place for learning and exploring and being a kind and positive member online to ensure our footprint for the future is safe. 

Art

We have begun our art unit which will continue into next term. 

P-2 We are exploring papercraft and practicing manupulating, arranging and combining paper in different ways. We are learning to use equipment like scissors safely, confidently and more efficiently to create artwork based on The Magic Hat and The Rainbow Serpent.  

3-6 We have begun looking at the artwork of Pablo Picasso and are beginning to create our own 2D and 3D piece using cardboard, paper, watercolours and oil pastels. 

All of these artworks will be on display upon their completion and I am so excited to see the end results!
