Touch Football

Congratulations to Team sVc for their performances at last week's Regional High School Touch Football Championships held at Rugby Park.

Our Year 7/8 team finished the day in 3rd place, whilst our Year 9/10 team lost the Grand Final 2-3 to MacKillop in a heart-stopping extra-time thriller. The Year 9/10 team has now qualified for the State finals in Launceston on Tuesday 11 November.

Well done, boys!

SATIS Rep Gala Day

The SATIS Representative Day was held recently in Hobart, bringing together some of the most talented students from across Tasmania. It was a fantastic day of high-quality competition, school spirit, and regional pride, with every game showcasing the skill, determination, and sportsmanship of our students.

Final Results and Highlights:

Girls Basketball: The North proved dominant, taking the win 101–50. Despite the margin, the South displayed grit and worked hard until the final buzzer.

Boys Basketball: A thrilling contest went right down to the wire, with the North edging out the South by just one point, 74–73. Both teams played with great intensity in one of the standout matches of the day. Team sVc was represented by Ryan Lamprey

Girls Soccer: The South were strong defensively and clinical up front, securing a 2–0 victory over the North.

Boys Soccer: The South controlled the match and converted their chances well, coming away with a solid 4–1 win. Team sVc was represented by Will Butler, Viktor Gordon, Edward Huigsloot, Luke Morrisby, Noah Smith, and Jesse Tsakiris.

Girls Tennis: A tight contest that came down to the smallest of margins, with the South narrowly defeating the North 19–17.

Boys Tennis: The South proved too strong, running out comfortable winners 26–10, but the North fought hard in every set. Team sVc was represented by Charlie Marsden.

Overall, the day was an outstanding showcase of school sport at its best. Congratulations to all players, coaches, and officials for their efforts in making the event a success.

All the links for both boys' and girls' soccer and basketball live streams can be found at DUFF TV on YouTube or on the SATIS website.

Well done to all students and staff who represented St Virgil's College with pride.

Snow Sports

Congratulations to Finlay Child (Year 8), who took out a clean sweep of the ski and snowboard categories at the recent Ben Lomond Junior Titles.

Finlay took out the trophy for the Junior 12-15 ski race, the Tony Stonjek Trophy for overall fastest time on skis, along with the fastest time on snowboard, and 1st place in the 12-15 snowboard.

Well done Finlay!

Grand Final Success

St Virgil's College is extremely proud of the hundreds of students who represent their clubs with pride and passion throughout the winter sports season.

Our students participate in a variety of sports, including AFL, soccer, rugby, and hockey, among others. Their dedication to both training and match days is truly admirable. We also want to acknowledge the incredible support of our parents and carers, who spend countless hours helping our boys by providing transportation, washing uniforms, and sometimes coaching or managing teams.

sVc Sport strongly encourages our students to get involved in club sports. However, due to the large number of participants and the wide range of sports offered, we cannot keep track of, nor promote our students' successes, without our College community keeping us informed.

With that in mind, as we enter Grand Finals time, we would like to extend a special shout-out to the following boys and teams for their achievements and for being crowned as 2025 Champions.

Optional Fundraising - Diabetes Australia

As part of our participation in the School Triathlon Challenge this year, we're fundraising to help Diabetes Australia create a future where diabetes can do no harm.

Right now, more than 1.5 million Australians are living with diabetes. Every step we take and every dollar we raise helps change the lives of real people — parents, kids, grandparents, and friends — who are living with or at risk of diabetes.

With your support, we're:

  • Raising awareness

  • Funding vital research

  • Funding our DiaBuddies youth programs

  • Supporting those in need

  • Helping build a future where diabetes can do no harm

We’re showing people with diabetes that they are not alone — and that together, we’re stronger.

Please help us reach our goal by making a donation through our page.  See the link below.

https://give.diabetesaustralia.com.au/fundraisers/teamsvc

It only takes a minute, and anything you can give (no matter how large or small) will go a long way to helping us reach our target.

Thank you, Team sVc appreciates your support.
