The House Athletics Carnival for Years 2-6 was a fantastic day filled with energy, effort, and healthy competition. Students gave it their all across a wide range of events, including the 100m and 80m sprints, relays, novelty races, vortex throw, and long jump.
From the first race to the final event, the students showed great determination, encouragement, and pride in representing their houses. Whether they were racing down the track, cheering from the sidelines, or taking part in the novelty events, everyone played a part in making the day such a success.
In the final tally, it was Dwyer House who took the win with a strong total of 748 points, followed by Hessian (681), Joyce (613), and Doyle (565). Congratulations to Dwyer and to all boys for their outstanding participation.
A sincere thank you to all staff, particularly, our wonderful PE teacher and sport coordinator, Mrs Karryn McCullagh, and helpers who supported the event — from setting up equipment to recording results and encouraging the students throughout the day. Your efforts helped make the carnival such a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Four of our Football boys were selected to represent St Virgil’s College in the annual Webb vs Doran football match. Our boys played for Webb, who were the winners on the day. A big congratulations goes to Youssef Assi, Oli Wagstaff, Ned Heddle and Lochie Johnstone for their exemplary efforts on the field. All four boys played key roles in the match across multiple positions. In a nod to SVC, all boys in the Webb team played in SVC Jumpers.
At the Junior School, we are committed to ensuring our students are not only safe in the physical world, but also in the digital spaces they interact with every day. As part of this commitment, we are running age-appropriate ThinkUKnow sessions in classrooms across Kindergarten/Prep, Years 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 on Tuesday 14 October.
Delivered by a member of the Australian Federal Police, these sessions are designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
The classroom sessions will cover topics such as:
How to stay safe when using technology and social media
Recognising unsafe or suspicious online behaviour
What to do if something goes wrong online
How and where to seek help
This is a proactive step in our broader effort to promote digital wellbeing and equip our students with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
ThinkUKnow Parent Session – Keeping Kids Safe Online: Monday 20 October: 6.30 pm
We will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Monday 20 October at 6.30 pm in the Junior School Hall. All parents/carers of Kindergarten through to Year 6 students are encouraged to attend.
The presentation to help parents/carers stay informed and empowered about the online safety of your children. With digital technology being such a big part of kids' lives, it’s essential to understand the risks that exist online, including online grooming, sexual exploitation, and other harmful behaviors.
ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.
The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help seeking behaviour.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

There are few relationships in life quite as special as the one between grandparents and their grandchildren. On Wednesday 22 October, we are delighted to welcome Grandparents to our Junior Campus for Grandparents Day 2025.
This annual tradition is one of the most cherished days on our school calendar. It’s a time for our students to proudly share their school life, show off their classrooms, and spend meaningful time with the grandparents who mean so much to them.
Here’s what the day will look like:
10.30 am – Liturgy at St Mary’s Cathedral We’ll begin with a beautiful liturgy to give thanks for the gift of grandparents — a moment of reflection and gratitude in the heart of our faith community.
11.15 am – Classroom Visits Grandparents will then be invited into our classrooms, where they’ll get a glimpse into the daily learning adventures of their grandchildren. Expect stories, smiles, and maybe even a bit of show and tell!
12.00 pm – Light Luncheon in the Junior School Hall To wrap up the morning, we’ll share a warm and hearty lunch of soup and sandwiches, lovingly prepared and served by our talented VET Hospitality students. It’s a simple yet delicious way to say thank you and enjoy a chat over a meal.
Please RSVP by Tuesday 14 October 2025 via the EdSmart that was emailed recently.
