Year One Snapshot of Learning

Our Year 1 students have been diving into the world of Super sentences.
They have been practising how to use nouns, verbs, and adjectives to make their sentences strong. We have dived into imaginative texts and explored a world of imaginary creatures and topics to enhance our vocabulary.
Earlier this term, to celebrate World Ocean’s Day, the Year 1 students created a marvellous octopus filled with creativity, colour, and personality. Check out our whole year level display in Building B!
In our Rocket Writing sessions, we continued building super sentences and creating imaginative texts. Students let their imaginations run wild, writing about deep-sea adventures, colourful coral reefs, and fascinating sea creatures. Along the way, we focused on remembering to use capital letters, full stops, finger spaces, and correct punctuation to make sure our sentences were complete and polished.
It has been inspiring to see how much pride the children are taking in their writing in Year 1. Their super sentences are becoming longer, stronger, and more expressive, and they are showing great confidence in sharing their ideas aloud with their classmates. Check out our wonderful work below!
