Connect: Year 3
October 2025
Welcome to Term Four to our wonderful families! We have an exciting term filled with fun and lots of activities. Please keep an eye on our Newsletter and the 'What's On?' page, as the year nears its end, it will be an important place to keep on top of events and what is happening day to day!

Volunteers needed! Next week is our bi annual ART SHOW! We are running a Grade Three stall and are hoping that some of our beautiful parents could help us run the stall for a small 30 minute session each. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you're able to assist! Thankyou! :)
Water bottles: As the sun comes out and it starts to heat up, just a reminder for your child to bring water to school in a re-usable bottle each day. It enables them to have regular access to water in the classroom and keep them hydrated as the warmer weather sets in!

Congratulations to the following students on receiving their SILVER awards this fortnight!
3A - Cooper Plese, Hudson Kolasa-Dyer, Evie Chu, Liam Turley

Literacy:
A new term means a new exciting book to explore! This term we are starting to read 'Yirra and her deadly dog, Demon'. We have already started to read together, look at new vocabulary and work on grammar and sentence work linked to the text. Ask your child about the story so far! This text will drive our learning for the next few weeks. Also, check out the holiday reflections from 3A below!

Numeracy: We have been Super Mathematicians in Grade Three this fortnight! We have jumped straight back in to addition and subtraction... with a twist! We have been learning to add the cost of items, then work out change depending on what value was given. This work was challenging, but worth it! We will continue to practise this in our reviews and this is something you can work on at home too!
This link below is a great site that you could work with your child if you don't have some cash handy. It can also allow you to explore some other countries currency!

Inquiry: We have been getting organised for the Art Show this coming week but after we have completed that exciting event we will be looking at the topic of 'First Contact' which delves into Australian history. It will look at the perspectives of many points of view during European settlement including First Nations perspectives, convict perspectives and even child perspectives. We will also be covering some geography by looking at our nations map, learning states and capital cities.
Wellbeing: This term we will be covering a number of topics in our Wellbeing sessions. The first topic is all about 'help seeking'. We will cover a number of concepts such as 'how big is the problem?'; people and places that we can support or seek for help; and finally look at different scenarios and discuss how we can approach these issues. If you have any questions about these lessons, please reach out to your classroom teacher.
Last term, Miss French and 3C got creative and worked on some beautiful cacti art! These are just some of the examples!
