Specialist Feature News - Science
Selamat Siang semuanya,
In Science this term, students across the school have been busy exploring the fascinating world of materials. Junior School students have been investigating the properties of everyday objects, learning how to describe materials based on features such as texture, flexibility, strength, and absorbency. Through hands-on activities and experiments, they have developed their observation skills and learned how different materials are suited to different purposes. Foundation students are putting their knowledge to the test by designing and creating their own hats, carefully choosing materials that would make them strong, comfortable, and sun-safe. This creative project has allowed students to think like designers while applying their science learning in a practical and fun way.
Meanwhile, students in our Senior School have taken their learning a step further by exploring the states of matter. A highlight has been the “fairy floss experiment,” where students observed how sugar changes from a solid to liquid and then back to thin sugary threads as it cools and solidifies again. This tasty experiment helped them see science in action, sparking plenty of curiosity and discussion about how heat and cooling can change the state of materials.
Across all year levels, students have been asking thoughtful questions, making predictions, and developing a stronger understanding of the world around them. It has been wonderful to see their excitement as they discover how science connects to their everyday lives.
