A message from the Principal

Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

Last week, we celebrated Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. Across the week, we acknowledged the incredible Education Support Officers (ESOs) who work at St. Peter’s. Their patience, dedication, and tireless efforts in supporting our students make a significant difference every day. On behalf of the whole school, we thank our ESOs—you make St. Peter’s the special and well-supported place it is.

Father’s Day Breakfast

Our community gatherings continue to grow, and last Friday, 5th September, it was wonderful to see so many families attend the Father’s Day Breakfast. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and special people in our community! We hope you enjoyed your Bacon & Egg Roll and a hot beverage from the coffee van. A huge thank you to Adelyn and Mark from Deja Brew Coffee Van, who kindly looked after our St. Peter’s community with their incredible drinks—luckily, we secured them first before other schools!

Working Bee – Sunday 14th September

Mark your calendars! This Sunday, 14th September, from 9:30am–11:00am, we are inviting members of our community to help improve our school grounds. Our focus will be on cleaning up the school gardens, and any time you can spare will be greatly appreciated.

School Hats

As the weather warms up, students are welcome to start wearing their school hats again. While hats are compulsory in Terms 1 and 4, it’s important to be SunSmart and protect children from the sun as the UV index begins to rise. Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly labelled. If your child does not yet have a hat, they can be purchased from the front office.

ORIMA Survey

Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd conducts the annual CESSES (Catholic Education Sandhurst School Engagement Surveys) to gather feedback from students, families, and staff. Thank you to the families who attended the morning tea after the Book Week Parade and took the time to complete the survey. We still have 7 surveys to be completed, with prizes yet to be drawn. Winners will be announced at assembly at the end of this week.

Parent & Carer Cuppa – Wednesday 17th September

We warmly invite parents and carers to join us in Djak Tjarra at 9:30am for our next Parent & Carer Cuppa. Carolyn from RIAC will be attending again to offer her services, including NDIS help and advocacy, support and carer services, and much more.

We will also be showing a webinar from renowned Educational Neuroscientist Jared Cooney Horvath, titled “Stress, Tech and Sleep”. Jared previously spoke to all staff in our CES diocese at Easter, sharing the science of learning in an engaging and accessible way. In this webinar, he will explore:

  • How stress impacts learning and wellbeing
  • Whether technology supports or hinders learning and wellbeing
  • The critical role of sleep in child development

This session is part of a 3-part series, with two in-person sessions at school and one online. Please come along and join us for this insightful and practical session.

Learning Expo – Monday 15th September

Next week, we look forward to our Learning Expo on Monday, 15th September, in the afternoon. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the learning and achievements of our students.

Save the Date – School Closure Day in Term 4

Please also save Thursday, 21st November on your calendars. This will be a student-free day for a staff planning day in preparation for 2026.

A Moment in Prayer

This week, we pray for mental health and wellbeing:

Loving God,

Thank you for the gift of each new day and the world around us.

Help us to take notice of the small blessings, the kindness of others, and the beauty in our lives.

Teach us to appreciate the people, the moments, and the experiences that bring joy and growth.

Guide us to care for ourselves and each other, nurturing our minds, hearts, and spirits.  May we carry gratitude and awareness into all we do, spreading peace and understanding wherever we go.

Amen.

God Bless,
