Principal's Message

Wominjeka from Justin Lania

Dear Wollert PS Families,

Thank you for the feedback regarding the return of the newsletter. We will continue to develop the edition to ensure our school community stays connected with what is happening at Team Wollert.

As we approach the end of the term, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for their efforts and support during the changes we implemented at the beginning of the term. The staff have been incredible in their dedication and care for students, always placing them at the centre of our work. To the families, we are committed to further developing what we have at Wollert Primary School and exploring ways to make your child's learning journey special through a strong partnership and connection with the school.

Please note that our term will conclude on Friday, September 19th, at 2:30pm (early finish). I hope everyone enjoys a lovely break as we welcome beautiful spring days and the excitement of the football finals. Go Pies!

Stay safe and keep learning as part of our school community.

Events

Father's Day Events

First, I hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday celebrating with their special person and indulging in some treats.

Thank you to the families who supported our Men of Wollert BBQ; it was a lovely morning. The staff contributed greatly to ensuring families had a wonderful time sharing breakfast with their special people and loved ones. A special thanks to Carol Colbert and Ronald Anderson for their help with food preparation and the BBQ, as well as the staff who assisted with serving and cooking. It was a great morning!

Thank you to all the staff and families who supported our Father's Day stall. As parents, we truly appreciate the special gifts. I would like to express my gratitude to Wanda Belmore for her hard work in organising the stalls and to Michelle Leonard for her generous donations. We also extend our appreciation to the following staff members who helped with the stalls: Ravpreet Kaur on Wednesday and Jacqueline Beattie on Thursday.

Thank you also to the members of our School Council and the Parents and Friends Association for their support with the Father's Day Stall.

- Laura V (Parent of Alexis)

- Vishu S (Parent of Anaysha)

Flashback: Thank You for Book Week Celebrations

During Week 5, we celebrated Book Week with our school community, which was a tremendous success. It was fantastic to see students dressed up as their favourite characters, showcasing their love for reading. The teachers also participated in the celebrations by dressing up for the occasion. We would like to thank Rebecca Richards, Tien Vo, and all the teachers who supported this literacy-focused event. As mentioned in a previous newsletter, we also appreciate the families who supported the Book Fair, particularly Jacqueline Beattie for her efforts in organising Book Week and the Book Fair for our community.

Your Feedback Matters!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey and seeks your feedback. This survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to help schools understand families' perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and engagement. If you are one of the 80 randomly selected community members to complete the survey, please submit it by Friday, September 19, 2025.

We value your responses, as they will assist us in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs. The survey is conducted online and takes only 20 minutes to complete. Thank you for your participation.

Planning for 2026

Foundation Enrolments: Parents can visit the school office during opening hours or call the main office to get more information about Foundation enrolments for 2026.

Below is the link to express your interest in enrolling at Wollert PS in 2026:

Wollert Primary School - Expression of Interest for 2026 Enrolment

This week, we distributed our '2026 Foundation Pitter Patter' booklets to families for Foundation 2026 (Prep) enrolment at Wollert Primary School. The booklet contains important information about our school, key dates, the learning experiences we offer, and the transition sessions scheduled for November 2025. It also includes helpful tips for preparing for the start of the school year, including advice on how to pack your school bag for the first day at Wollert Primary School.

2026 Student Exits: If your child is currently in Foundation to Year 5 and will not be attending Wollert Primary School in 2026, please notify us in writing via the school email at wollert.ps@education.vic.gov.au as soon as possible. We require this information promptly to establish grade structures for the beginning of the new school year.

I would like to highlight an upcoming event this week: the Year 5/6 Market Day.

Our community is invited to attend at 2:30pm on Friday in the gymnasium. Come along to see the work completed by the team and the items for sale.

Kind regards,

Justin Lania
