"Oh God, our Father,
Thank you for giving us Carlo,
a model of life for young people
and a message of love for all!"
Last Friday, the staff of St Fidelis had the privilege of engaging with Father Rob Galea as part of our Faith Formation Day. Throughout the day, staff participated in prayer, reflection, and meaningful discussions that deepened their understanding of faith and its place in their daily lives. Father Rob shared his personal journey and experiences, offering inspiration and encouragement to continue living out our mission as Catholic educators. The sessions provided moments of both quiet reflection and joyful energy, reminding us of the importance of nurturing our own spiritual growth so that we can better support our students and school community. It was a truly uplifting and enriching experience that left us renewed and motivated in our faith and vocation.
Over the weekend, the Catholic Church celebrated the canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis, becoming the first millennial saint, often affectionately called the “gamer saint.”
Carlo was an Italian teenager with an extraordinary gift for technology, which he used to serve his faith. From a young age, he had a deep love for the Eucharist and developed a website dedicated to documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world.
Despite living in a modern, technology-driven world, Carlo showed that holiness is possible for everyone, including young people who use social media and the internet daily. His life is a powerful witness that technology can be used for good and to share the Gospel to inspire others.
Carlo passed away in 2006 at the age of just 15 due to leukemia, but his legacy continues to impact millions worldwide. He is often referred to as “God’s influencer” because of his ability to connect faith with everyday life and digital culture. The world witnessed the canonisation of Carlo Acutis, such a historical moment for the Church and a profound reminder that sanctity is not limited by age or era.
On Tuesday, 9th September at 9:15 am, students from 5/6NT, FOS and FLW will be attending Mass. We warmly invite parents and carers to join us in celebrating this special occasion with the children.
The parish is running the RCIA program (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for adults inquiring about becoming Catholic. The first inquiry session will be held on Wednesday, 10 September at 7.00 pm at St Ambrose Community Centre on 287 Sydney Road, Brunswick.
For registration or more information, please contact the parish at BMCC@cam.org.au or 9380 1023.
God bless, and have a great week.
