Visit from the Hamilton Art Gallery

Students recently took part in a Gel Plate Printing workshop, a free and engaging learning experience delivered by the Hamilton Art Gallery staff during class time. The session introduced students to creative printmaking techniques.

The workshop provided valuable links to the wider artistic community, encouraging creativity, experimentation and artistic exploration. These techniques will also be built upon in future classes, allowing students to further develop their skills in a meaningful and hands-on way.

Music Report

This term has been a growth opportunity in music with Mrs. Haller settling into teaching some very enthusiastic violin players (and one cellist) and some singers, with a clear goal of giving the students a couple of performance opportunities in both the Christmas Dungeon and the primary school tour.

The Christmas Dungeon was a lovely evening of students trying out new songs (for which the dungeon venue is perfect), punctuated with the occasional Christmas carol or song to keep it festive.

The year 12 music students had their exam on the 18th of October and while anticipation was high, the nerves were under control. All seemed to enjoy the process of performing to a ‘nearly’ empty auditorium (save the two examiners).

The primary school / kindergarten tour was again a hit with all concerned. We performed at Hamilton North Primary School, our local Kindergarten and then George Street Primary School. We were privileged to become an audience at the Kindergarten as their students performed two songs for us! With extra Christmas spirit!

Garden Club

The school’s Garden Club has officially sprouted into action in Term 4, building on the excitement of our students’ outstanding win in the Council Sustainability Competition in 2024. As part of this achievement, Council has generously supported the establishment of our garden by assisting with setup and supplying a variety of seeds and seedlings. Students from several year levels have been enthusiastically rolling up their sleeves each Tuesday lunchtime, working together to prepare the soil, plant, water and care for the garden. Their dedication and teamwork are already paying off, with early signs of healthy growth beginning to appear across the garden beds. It has been wonderful to see students developing practical skills, learning about sustainability, and taking pride in nurturing something from the ground up. We look forward to harvesting our first crops in the new year, with the produce heading to the school canteen to help provide fresh, healthy lunch options for our school community.

Poppy Selling & Remembrance Day

Baimbridge College continues to strengthen its relationship with the local RSL through meaningful community service, with students playing an active role in Remembrance Day commemorations this November.

As part of the day’s preparations, the Year 8 cohort walked to Melville Oval to plant thousands of plastic poppies in front of the memorial. The task was completed with enthusiasm and care, with students receiving high praise from RSL members for their willingness to help and the respect they showed throughout the morning.

In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, Baimbridge College students also assisted the RSL by selling poppies, badges and pens in Gray Street. Students acted as excellent ambassadors for the school, engaging positively with the community and representing Baimbridge with pride.

The Remembrance Day Service at Melville Oval also marked a significant milestone for the school’s 2026 Captains. Bella Perry and Olivia Bell attended the service alongside Principal Mr Warwick Price and laid a wreath on behalf of the Baimbridge College community. This was their first official duty as School Captains, and they carried out the role with maturity and respect.

Baimbridge College thanks the RSL for their continued partnership and extends a special thank you to Jarred for his support and guidance in coordinating these activities. His time, encouragement and connection with students help make these opportunities meaningful and memorable. The College also acknowledges the students who contributed their time and effort to honour those who have served.

Farwelling another Exchange Student

We recently farewelled Andrea, who joined us from Italy and spent July to November as part of our school community.

During his stay, he lived in Coleraine and made the most of the opportunity to explore the local area, experience regional life, and visit a number of attractions. He also enjoyed sightseeing in Melbourne and taking in the city’s vibrant culture.

We wish him all the very best as he returns home and thank him for the wonderful contribution he made during his time with us.
