The Jubilee Year of Hope Prayer for 2025

Father in heaven,

May the faith you have given us in your son,

Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts

by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us,

the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us

into diligent cultivators of the evangelical seeds

you have sown in our hearts,

and may we be witnesses of your love and mercy to all.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our the earth.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

The Jubilee of Hope 2025

From omi.com.au

Every 25 years, the Catholic Church invites the faithful into a Jubilee Year, a sacred time of renewal, reconciliation and profound spiritual invitation. It’s a reminder that we are not merely people of tradition, but people of hope. The Jubilee is a time to step forward with fresh purpose, to seek mercy and to rediscover what it means to be in communion with God and one another.

In 2025, Pope Francis called the Church to celebrate a Jubilee of Hope. The theme is both timely and prophetic—our world is in deep need of healing, unity and renewed vision. As Pilgrims of Hope, we are invited to journey inward and outward: to deepen our relationship with Christ, and to walk together with others in compassion, justice and love.

A Moment of Grace for the Oblate Family

For the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Jubilee offers a special opportunity to live out our founding mission: to walk with the poor, the forgotten, the young and the searching. As pilgrims, we are called to journey with others, not above them, and to carry the light of Christ into the world’s most challenging places.

As we join with our Oblate companions in Rome and prepare to cross these thresholds of hope, may we do so with open hearts, renewed faith and bold missionary spirit. This Jubilee is not just an event. It is a doorway into grace, into mission, into a deeper communion with God and one another.

Vinnies Sleepout 2025

Over a hundred Vinnies students and staff from Mazenod and St Brigid’s braved the winter cold to raise money to support people who are suffering homelessness in the Western Australian community. The night was also about social justice education. The participants were treated to Vinnies staff member, Hannah Taylor, talking about homelessness in WA and Mazenod teacher, James Wani, talking about his work in South Sudan where he has established a school in his home village. Both speakers where inspirational and were a highlight of the evening.

Thank you to the many staff who made this evening possible. Thank you to the students for their leadership, passion for justice, participation on the night and their fundraising efforts. Thank you also to anyone who generously donated money to the Vinnies Sleepout. Any additional money can still be handed in to the office or directed debited into the school bank account over the next week.

All up, the students raised $6870.10 on the night. This money will be distributed to the various charities that the de Mazenod Vinnies Conference have supported over the years. These charities include the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, The Shopfront, St Patrick’s Community Centre and Rosies – Friends on the Street. All of these charities do substantial work in supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Father’s Day Mass and Afternoon Tea.

The College experienced a wonderful turn up to this year’s Father’s Day Mass and afternoon tea. It was a wonderful sight to see so many boys enjoying the company of their fathers and grandfathers.

Fr Michael Twigg OMI reminded everyone of the importance of the relationships that exist between fathers and their sons. His piece of advice for all in his homily was to “seek respect, not attention, it lasts longer.”

I hope that all our fathers were treated to a fantastic Father’s Day with your son(s) last Sunday.
