Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Over the past fortnight, our Year 10 and 11 students completed their exams with a strong sense of focus and determination. It was pleasing to see so many students applying themselves and taking the opportunity to demonstrate their learning. A big thank you goes to our staff for their excellent organisation and smooth running of the exam period.
In sport, our students represented the school with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship in interschool netball and AFL competitions. A particular highlight was the thrilling finish in the AFL, with our team securing a win in their final game of the day with a goal scored on the last kick – a fantastic way to end the match!
Looking ahead, the GAT (General Achievement Test) takes place next Tuesday, along with the interschool girls AFL competition and interschool soccer the following week. We wish all participants the best of luck.
Next Wednesday evening the 18th of June, we invite all current Year 10 students and their families to attend the Year 10 into Year 11 Information Evening. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about VCE subject offerings and speak directly with staff to help guide subject selections. Domain leaders will also speak with students the following week, before subject selection interviews being held on Thursday the 26th of June. The 26th will be an adjusted school day for the Year 10’s, there will be no classes running as students are only expected to attend school for their interview. Interviews will be running throughout the day; calls are being made to families to book an interview time.
Next Friday is our VET Come and Try Day. This is a great chance for students to explore Vocational Education and Training options available at Red Cliffs Secondary College and get a taste of hands-on learning in a range of fields. This is available to both internal and external students interested in any of the courses available. If you are interested in attending, please register online or contact Ms. Alana Collier, Careers/Pathways Co-ordinator, at the school.
Finally, we have the ‘Man Cave’ and ‘The Big Sister Experience’ programs running for all Year 8 students in week 10. These programs are run offsite for the day, so please make sure you have consented for your child(ren) on Compass. Morrisby interviews for our Year 9 students are also in week 10. These interviews follow up from the careers profiling the students completed earlier in the term, students and parents are both invited to attend these interviews.
We look forward to a busy and exciting few weeks ahead leading to the end of term.
Mr. Josh Willersdorf
Assistant Principal
