Years 5/6 Thalgarrah Visit

Last Thursday 29 May Stage 3 went for an excursion to Thalgarrah Environmental Centre. We got to hold yabbies, then we did a drawing and painting of the yabbies with watercolour pencils. After recess, we did some leaf printing with jelly plates. Then after lunch we got to see some bearded dragons, a blue tongue lizard and got to hold Sophie the carpet python!!!! She was massive and so heavy. We had a great time running around the maze, playing frisbee and hanging out in the bush. Thanks Miss Patterson, Miss Megan and Mrs Heagney for taking us on this awesome trip!

ABC Acknowledgement of Country

This week students from Kindergarten to Year 6 entered into the ABC Acknowledgement of Country poster competition which encouraged students to create posters featuring an Acknowledgement of Country in their local Indigenous language, promoting cultural awareness and collaboration with Indigenous communities.

Good luck to all the participants!

PSSA Touch Football

On Friday 30 May, 27 students travelled to Walcha for the PSSA Touch Football Gala Day. We took 3 teams to the day, 1 girl and 2 boy’s teams. All students had a great day and played some great Touch Football. The girls played some hard-fought games, unfortunately didn’t come away with a win. The boys played some tuff games and came away with 2 wins and 1 loss, against Walcha Central who won the competition. Liam Poss, William Cox, Jett Williams and Jack Blackburn made it into possibles and probables.  A huge congratulations to Jett Williams who made it into the PSSA zone touch football team, to compete later in the term at Inverell. A big thank you to Fynn Williams who officiated games and did an amazing job. It was a great day of sport, we saw some great sportsmanship on and off the field.

Year 3/4 Opals

Stage 2 Opals and Diamonds have been participating in mathematics lessons that have developed the big idea that questions can be asked and answered by interpreting data. They have been actively involved in hands on activities and online games. They have had a great time collecting data and learning more about their class.
