Dear Le Page Community,
As we round out another vibrant week at Le Page Primary School, there is a wonderful energy pulsing through our classrooms and playgrounds. Our students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm for learning, their kindness toward one another, and their growing leadership skills. Whether it’s through collaborative classroom projects, lunchtime clubs, or thoughtful conversations during assemblies, the spirit of curiosity and community is shining brightly.
This week has been filled with memorable moments, from creative lessons and outdoor activities to student-led initiatives that reflect the values we strive to nurture every day. Our dedicated staff remain deeply committed to each child’s learning journey, and it’s heartening to see the positive impact of these efforts across all year levels.
With winter just around the corner, we appreciate the support of our families in keeping students warm, punctual, and ready to learn. A big thank you to everyone involved in preparing for our upcoming events, your time and contributions help make our school the vibrant place it is.
Lunchtime Soirée
This week, our talented instrumentalists and vocalists showcased their musical skills during a delightful lunchtime soirée. Students who performed have been honing their talents in small group and individual lessons with our dedicated private music teacher, Srebrenka Casaceli, and her team. Their heartfelt singing and playing truly resonated with the audience and made for a memorable midday event.
New Mural Taking Shape
The new school mural is steadily coming to life! Once completed, it will be a bold and vibrant centrepiece that captures the spirit of our school community and proudly reflects our positive philosophy. Designed to bring joy and inspiration, the mural will be completed by next week.
Chloe’s Garden Upgrade
Work will soon begin on exciting upgrades to Chloe’s Garden, located adjacent to the new mural. A new pathway and raised garden bed will be constructed, transforming the space into a peaceful, welcoming focal point of the school grounds. Students will be able to meander, sit, and enjoy this revitalized area, further enhancing our school’s natural environment.

Reconciliation Week at Le Page Primary School
This week, we honour National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day, a time for reflection and understanding as we acknowledge the experiences and resilience of the Stolen Generations. Our students have participated in rich, meaningful learning experiences that celebrate the culture, stories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples:
The Sea of Sorry Hands
Students created decorated paper hands with messages of support and empathy, forming a powerful visual tribute displayed throughout the school.
X-Ray Animal Art
Inspired by traditional Aboriginal x-ray art, students painted animals like turtles, kangaroos, and barramundi using natural lines and earthy colours.
Storytime: Sorry Day by Coral Vass & Dub Leffler
Cultural Specialist Shelley Bradley led students in reading and discussing this moving picture book, prompting thoughtful reflections on empathy, justice, and listening to First Nations voices.
We remain committed to embedding First Nations perspectives across our curriculum and walking together toward a better future.

Please ensure all clothing and items are clearly labelled with your child’s full name to help us return them promptly. Thank you for helping us keep our school tidy and our students warm and well-equipped.

The Importance of Attendance and Punctuality
Regular attendance and punctuality are crucial for student success. Research shows that students who attend school consistently achieve better learning outcomes and develop stronger social skills. Our goal is for 80% of students to attend 95% of the school year.
Morning punctuality matters too! The first 10 minutes of the day help students settle in, hear announcements, and prepare for learning. Let’s work together to ensure every student starts each day ready and on time. Your support makes a big difference in building positive learning habits and school engagement.
This Week's Focus on Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
At Le Page Primary School, the focus on Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, has been central to strengthening relationships, enhancing communication, and nurturing a culture of empathy. This habit, derived from Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” teaches students and staff the importance of listening with the intent to truly understand others before responding.
Across classrooms, students engage in structured discussions and reflection activities that highlight active listening, respectful dialogue, and consideration of different perspectives. Teachers model empathic listening and guide students through role-plays, restorative conversations, and peer feedback sessions that reinforce the value of understanding others’ feelings and viewpoints.
In leadership initiatives, such as Student Lighthouse Team projects and buddy programs, Habit 5 supports inclusive decision-making, where every voice is acknowledged and valued. This habit also extends to staff-parent interactions, where the school emphasizes respectful and non-judgmental communication as part of its School-Home Communication Policy.
By consistently embedding Habit 5 into the daily fabric of school life, in assemblies, classroom routines, and community engagement, Le Page fosters a supportive environment where students feel heard, respected, and empowered to express themselves constructively. This commitment cultivates empathy and mutual respect, essential traits for lifelong success.
Thought for the Week
