Fabulous Foundation

Term 2 Week 6 - 30th May 2025

The Preps have shown great resilience with my absence. Thankfully I have found my voice - “It was hiding under my bed.” The Preps thought that was hilarious and it led us to a funny conversation about what else we find under our beds - odd socks, pet toys just to name a few!

Preps have enjoyed lots of learning and playtime outside and are becoming excellent at synergising together. It is lovely to observe little friendships forming and how everyone looks out for each other in our room.

Please note we have school Photos on Monday 2nd June. Please wear full school uniform and be at school at 9 am as Preps are always first up for their photos!

Literacy

Myuna farm is still being talked about in class. We have begun using photos from the farm to write a recount text. We are at the stage where we are encouraging students to become more independent writers. Many are challenging themselves and having a go at writing words independently. This writing piece will form one of our writing assessments for Semester 1.

I have included a phonics table that shows what sounds and words are taught when.

Maths:

We have been looking at the duration of time in Prep. Does it take longer to eat a banana or to watch a movie? We have had fun practising these, such as What takes longer, running around the oval or eating your lunch etc. We have also been counting objects in a group then converting that to a numeral up to 20.

Leader In Me/Buddies

During our Buddies session with the grade 2’s we are also learning about the 7 habits each week and doing an activity on that habit. Ask your child about the proactive flowers they made in class with their buddy.
