Principal News

Dear Parents, Carers and Marian CC Community,

At the end of Week 5 and during Week 6, the College celebrated two feast days and our Founder’s Day, along with the range of activities. All of which you will have seen posted on the College facebook page. For the many students, staff and teams who appeared most recently, my sincere congratulations and delight at your magnificent achievements, efforts and success.

Special congratulations to:

  •  Alexis Harrison playing in the NSWCCC (15 and under) AFL Football Champions
  • Tahlia Quinn playing in NSWCCC Netball State Champions
  • MCC Senior and Junior Teams winning the 2025 Reconciliation Cup (and coach Mrs Lole)
  • Mrs Segrave and Mr Herb for presenting at the ACEL National Summit-Connecting Our Middle Leaders.

Week 5 also saw the magnificent Autumn in the Orchard musical performances by our gifted Marian students and Creative and Performing Arts Leader Mr Segrave and staff, not only in CAPA but from other KLA areas as well. Our thanks also to Piccolo Family Farm for their support and the magnificent venue. Other special matches included the Bill Turner Cup, NSWCCC Rugby League and League Tag plus a host of excursions and activities for Science, English and to celebrate and acknowledge our founders.

All of these activities and hard work are undertaken for our students. They provide them with opportunities to challenge themselves, work collaboratively in teams, and develop skills for life beyond school. They represent exactly what a broad and inclusive curriculum of learning really offers. This is true whether the activity focuses on developing sporting, arts, academic, spiritual and social skills and abilities. None of these activities would be possible without the support, passion and care provided by MCC staff who organise, assist, coach, cheer, teach, lead or manage in order to make this possible.

I know that all parents and carers, also deserving our thanks and congratulations, will feel that same sense of pride and joy for their child.  Among the many stories just referenced, I invite parents to view the story of this College created by Mrs Jenny Sartor to celebrate our Founders Day on Friday May 26. This recording provides an introduction to the historical and religious traditions that have inspired this excellent school. The link is available here.

Finally, my thanks to Mr Abdala, Mrs Gaudie (previously Miss Frost), Ms Uoifalelahi, Ms Ponferrada and Ms Caqusau for all of the work and preparation behind Friday’s Annual Staff Spirituality Day. This was a really lovely day, which included a surprise morning visit from His Grace, our Bishop, Reverend Mark Edwards OMI. The Spirituality Day followed a staff Twilight Professional Learning session, last week called, ‘In the Marist Way’, delivered by special presenters: David Bobkowski and Paul Harris, representatives  from Marist Australia Organisation.

As we move into the last few weeks of Term 2, 2025, I encourage all members of the College, staff and students and families, to maintain focus on completing semester studies and extracurricular activities, and to stay warm, eat well, sleep well and reach out if support is needed. The College has a wonderful staff, including counselling, wellbeing and pastoral specialists who also deserve our appreciation and thanks and who are able to provide support and assistance.
