Middle Sub School News

Amelia Frantz - Middle Sub School Leader
Dear families,
During Weeks 5 and 6, students have continued with their learning programs and working on their individual learning plan goals. Students have participated in a range of activities, highlights being hands on maths, using programs such as Reading Eggs on the computers/ipads. Middle school has been fortunate to receive some new laptops to support student learning.
In Week 6, students celebrated National Reconciliation Week. Many colourful artworks have been created to recognise this important week.
It is great to see students practicing social skills and interacting with each other at break times. Favourite activities have included playing with the footy, tennis racquet and ball and basketballs. On Thursday at lunch time students have been invited to colouring club with learning specialist Juri. The feedback has been very positive.
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child has warm clothing (such as long pants, jumper, coat, beanie, gloves and scarves). Wet day (inside) timetables occur when it is raining. Students are provided opportunities to go outside for play during Term 2 when it is not raining.
Just a reminder that next week we have our music incursion. Please ensure permission notes are returned.
As always, please reach out anytime and I will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support,
Amelia
ROOM 17
Welcome to an update from Room 17
Students in Room 17 have taken part in a variety of events during Terms 1 and 2.
Most notably has been the Swimming program in early Term 2. During the week long event, students practised numerous skills around water, including, awareness of their surroundings, knowledge of their limits, floating, as well as an introduction to confidence whilst in a deep water setting.
Students are now taking the skills learned in swimming to build their awareness and safety around roads and traffic. In Week 5 students took part in their first excursion to Emu Parade playground, where they put into practise their knowledge crossing the road, holding hands, listening to adult instructions and road traffic sign awareness. The remainder of Term 2, will continue to see students build these skills as they take part in other excursions, including trips to Bundoora Park and Jack Roper Reserve.
