Dear Families,

As we enter National Reconciliation Week, we are invited to reflect on this year’s powerful theme: Bridging Now to Next. This theme challenges us all to honour the truths of our past, to act with purpose in the present, and to build a future grounded in justice and inclusion.

For us as a Catholic school community, reconciliation is more than a national conversation—it is a journey rooted in the Gospel values of dignity, compassion, and justice. These values are at the heart of our mission: to ensure that every child in our care feels safe, respected, and valued.

In particular, Child Safe Standard 1 calls us to actively promote the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Reconciliation Week provides an important opportunity to reflect on how we are living out this standard—through the relationships we nurture, the curriculum we deliver, and the respect we show for the stories and cultures of First Nations peoples.

As we mark Reconciliation Week, we are reminded of the importance of embracing and celebrating the diverse cultures within our school community. This week—and beyond, we invite your support in nurturing meaningful conversations about diversity, inclusion, and respect. These conversations should be grounded in awareness, appreciation, and understanding.

As a Catholic community, let us continue fostering conversations founded on awareness, appreciation, and understanding, as we strive to uphold our commitment to reconciliation and building a more just society for all.

Health and Wellbeing Reminder

As the cooler months settle in, we are seeing the usual seasonal illnesses begin to circulate within our community. I kindly ask that children who are unwell be kept at home to rest and recover. This not only supports their wellbeing but also helps us protect the health of other students and staff.

Advisory Council Nominations

Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent nomination process for our School Advisory Council. I am pleased to announce that CESL has appointed Shae Hellstedt and Ben Edwards as the successful nominees. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and look forward to the valuable perspectives they will bring to the life and leadership of our school. Shae and Ben will also be joined by new member, Ryan Neville, who will act as the CESL representative on our Council.

Unit Information and Student Goals

A gentle reminder that information from individual learning units is now being included within this newsletter. Please ensure you review these sections regularly for important updates relevant to your child’s class and learning activities.

Additionally, families are reminded that Student Goals will be available via PAM, from 3.30pm on Friday. Please take the opportunity to review and celebrate your child’s progress and achievements. Families are invited to contact the classroom teacher should they wish to discuss these goals.

School Production Update

There is an air of excitement around our upcoming school production! Rehearsals are well underway, and tomorrow we will hold our first full run-through of the show. I would like to sincerely thank our dedicated staff and the wonderful parent volunteers who are giving their time and talents to support this creative endeavour.

To our amazing students—thank you for the enthusiasm, teamwork, and positivity you continue to bring to each rehearsal. We can’t wait to share more information about ticket sales with you in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let us move forward together this week—united in faith, hope, and the shared mission of nurturing every child to grow in wisdom, love, and understanding.

With many blessings,

Alannah Darmody
