Grade 5/6 News

It’s week 10 of Term 3 - where did that time go?!

We’ve had a term filled with learning and fun.

Here are some reflections from our 5/6 Students:

  • A highlight has been the STEAM projects we are going to share with our peers and family. We were able to continue practising how to build with cardboard, creating sliders and levers, as well as making electrical circuits.
  • A highlight has been our Athletics Day. I enjoyed getting the opportunity to be with all of my friends and just have fun together all day.
  • I learnt how to use technical vocabulary in my writing and skim and scan in reading to be more efficient.
  • I learnt all about the 8 eight planets in the solar system and their features. It’s been really interesting.
  • I’ve learnt about the impact of robots in society and it’s made me think about how we are using them in the world today.
  • I’ve improved in the reading skill of inferring. I’ve worked hard on thinking beyond the text and using clues, to get a better understanding.
  • I enjoyed learning about new techniques in Art and using different tools to create unique pieces.
  • I enjoyed the AFL 9’s carnival at Galen. It was great to go there and play short games with people from other schools.

This Thursday we have our Life Relationships Evening in the hall commencing at 5.30pm. This session is an important part of our unit and seeks to strengthen the partnerships between parents/caregivers, students and school.

Parents are invited to attend with their Grade 5/6 child.

We are looking forward to showcasing our STEAM learning by sharing our projects with our parent community on Friday at 9.10 am. We hope you can make it!

We would like to thank you for your support this term and wish you all a happy and safe holiday break. See you in Term 4!
