Learning Journals 

This week your child will bring home their Learning Journal. Inside you will see pieces of work that show a progression of learning in each subject area that is taught to your child. 

We encourage you to take the time to look and discuss the work with your child. 

There is a spot at the end of the pieces where we encourage you to write a comment to your child about their work. 

Maths Daily Review 

At St Kilian’s every class participates in Maths Daily Review at least 4 times per week. We do this to ensure students build on and maintain their understanding of previously learnt content. 

Maths Daily Reviews revise:  

• Number recognition  
• Place Value - renaming, expanded notation, partitioning  
• Basic facts knowledge  
• Operations - computation  
• Mathematics Vocabulary  
• Statistics & Probability  
• Measurement Problem solving using the bar model 
• Previously taught skills and concepts 

Maths Daily Reviews generally occur at the start of a Maths lesson and will last for approximately 20 minutes (dependent on grade level)
