Term 3 2024

It’s hard to believe we are nearly at the end of term 3 and soon the children will begin transition sessions with their schools soon. We always encourage attendance to these as they serve an important part of preparing children for the start of school.

As always, we have been focusing on building strong friendships and practising kindness. We have been reading stories that teach us how to share, take turns, and use gentle words with our friends. During circle time, we talk about how important it is to include everyone in our games and to be helpful to one another and this a focus during buddy time. You can support this at home by asking your child how they filled up someone’s bucket or how they can fill up buckets at home.

Play is such an important part of our day. Whether we’re building with blocks, playing dress-up, or exploring outside, the children are learning cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity. We’ve also introduced some simple games like  "Hide and Seek" and "What’s the time Mr Wolf?" which help the children practice listening, following directions, and taking turns.

While the Olympics were on the children showed an interest in the Olympics! To build on this, we’ve been introducing simple activities inspired by the games, such as running races, jumping, long jump and tossing bean bags. Completing a medal tally together and we will continue the discussions as the Para-Olympics begin.

The children enjoyed dressing up for book week and sharing their stories. In September we have an incursion with Drama Tool Box to the story Tiddalick.

Soon we will be back to hats and sunscreen as the UV increases. So don’t forget to check bags and have a change of clothing as we do not have many spares at kinder.

Thanks,

Kirsty, Amy and Marilyn
