What a fun week we’ve had at Box Hill North Primary School and Kinder!
Between the Kindies heading to Chesterfield Farm on Friday, District Athletics on Tuesday, Preppies getting a visit from the Firefighters on Wednesday and then our whole school DISCO last night, there was barely any time to get excited for State School Spectacular!
CONGRATULATIONS to the students of Box Hill North Primary School! You have earned so many tokens for showing our school values - Compassion, Courage, Ambition and Creativity - that you have earned a Zowie Day! Teachers and students will start planning a whole-school Zowie Day before the end of term - stay tuned for when it will be!
In case you're new to Box Hill North, we are a School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support school. Part of this approach is that we acknowledge positive student behaviours by giving students tokens. When students collectively earn enough tokens to fill one of the jars at the office, we all get to have a whole-school celebration day! Today, the jar titled "Zowie Day" has been filled, meaning most students have voted to hold a Zowie Day to celebrate their positive behaviours.
What is a Zowie Day and when will it be? Stay tuned! More information will be sent out asap, but safe to say the Zowie Day will be held before the end of term!
District Athletics
I couldn’t have been more impressed with our District Athletes on Tuesday – their school spirit and ambition were prominent throughout the day. I was so proud to have them all representing our school, and received comments from multiple teachers about how well-mannered they all were.
Disco
The rain certainly couldn’t dampen the spirits of BHNPSK students when it comes to a Disco! I’ve never seen a better disco – from the decorations to the outfits, the singing…but most importantly the DANCE MOVES! What incredible dancers we have at Box Hill North! Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to show off my own Nutbush and Macarena moves, but there’s always next year!
Thanks to all the students who ventured out on a wet Wednesday evening to dance the night away at school!
State School Spectacular
Speaking of dancing, our State School Spectacular team have been in at John Cain Arena all day today, getting ready for their big shows this Saturday! Thank you to our Performing Arts teacher - Kim Pearce - and our 3/4 teacher - Matt Stocks – for all the time and effort they’ve put into getting our ‘School Speccers’ ready for their time in the spotlight!
R U OK Day
Today is RUOK Day, but the theme this year is ‘Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.’
A lot can happen in a year, a month, a week. Whether it’s your friend, family member, colleague, partner, or teammate, the people you care about go through life’s ups and downs every day.
By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to.
So whilst R U OK?Day on Thursday September 12 is our National Day of Action, we encourage you to Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life.
Last Week of Term 3
I just can’t believe that next week is the last week of Term 3! Time flies when you’re having fun!
We look forward to seeing everyone in their team’s sports gear on Friday 20th September, ready to win a special prize at assembly, donated by Ross Haywood Sports. If you haven’t yet, be sure to order a special Sports Day Lunch Order from Classroom Cuisine!
A reminder that Term 3 finishes at 2.30pm on Friday 20th September
