Principal's Report
If it takes a 'village to raise a child' it certainly takes a whole school community to successfully put on a school musical production the size of Eureka!
Do you ever find it a little difficult to get the whole family dressed up and out the door on time for a special family occasion? Well, you can only image the organisation, coordination and hard work that is required to have over 200 children, in costume and make up, ready to go on stage as required and knowing all their lines and dance routines! It is wonderful to be backstage and observe the excitement and pleasure the children experience when performing! Thank you so much to all the parents and teachers that helped or supported in any way at all. We especially thank the following wonderful parents who played a pivotal role in the production: -
- Ross Jones for the set design and creation. Jodi Finkelstein also for her work supporting Ross with the sets.
- Nicole Goodman for the logo design and program.
- Rachel Bloom for coordinating the costumes. Thank you also to all the parents that ably assisted Rachel and for those who helped backstage at each performance.
- Our parent community for encouraging and assisting our students to learn lines, for providing costumes, painting sets, sewing and generally supporting the musical journey from start to finish.
The staff of Gardenvale Primary School are a truly amazing and dedicated group of people who give their all to make our school the best it can be. Their involvement and support of the production is an example of their professionalism and teamwork in addition to the excellent way they carry out their regular roles!
Finally, and most importantly, we acknowledge the extraordinarily talented and very humble: Julie Pitts, musical producer, director and co -writer, and Tom Pitts, music director, sound engineer and co-writer. There are not enough superlatives to describe Julie and Tom and what they bring to our students, staff and community, they really are exceptional! We say a massive thank you for taking us on your ride - Eureka was simply brilliant!!

Junior COLA and Tree Removal
All is on target for the Junior COLA to be installed the second week of the Term 3 school holidays. The 6 conifer trees that are alongside the four-square courts at the Junior Campus, will be removed during the first week of the holidays. The roots of the trees are lifting the asphalt.
Footy Day
If you are free on Friday morning, come along and join us as we celebrate one of Melbourne’s traditions – Australian Rules Football. Students are asked to dress up in their footy gear or sports team colours. Students will participate in activities involving football skills at the beginning of the day, then assemble as a whole school and sing all the clubs’ songs after recess. Our Assembly will be held at the Senior Campus from 11.15am.
As it is the last day of Term 3 students will be dismissed at 2.30pm this Friday. Term 4 commences on Monday 7th October.
Wishing all our families celebrating Rosh Hashana a very happy time, enjoying special festivities and traditions.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable break from the school routines and are fit and ready for a great Term 4.
