YEAR 10

Year 10 Key Information

  • During Week 1, students interested in a VET pathway for 2025 attended their VET interviews with their parents/caregivers. Thank you for your participation. We have two important upcoming dates related to the students’ VET pathways for next year, and students must attend both sessions (parents/caregivers are not required to attend):

VPG Induction: On Tuesday, 15 October, at 9:40 am (Week 3), VPG will discuss work placements in the library during SEL. Student attendance is essential.

VPG Interviews: On Tuesday, 22 October (Week 4), VPG staff will conduct student interviews for work placements at the Trade Training Centre. Interview times will be communicated via email.

  • Thank you to all the students who submitted applications for the Year 11 Mentor Program. We appreciate their time and effort in showcasing their leadership qualities and skills. In the coming week, all applicants will be interviewed to discuss their potential contributions to the mentor team. We look forward to meeting with them and exploring how they can help lead and inspire our school community in 2025.

Whole of College Key Information

  • Monday, October 7, is the King's Birthday Public Holiday. We hope you enjoy this final long weekend for the year, with students returning on Tuesday, October 8.

  • It was beautiful to share in a high tea and celebrate our wonderful grandparents this week at our first assembly for Term 4. We loved hearing from Year 7 student Reid Slatcher, grandparent Mrs Jan O'Donnell and Campus Minister Mrs Helena Tutoe at the event.

  • It was excellent to see so many students return this week, meeting the college expectations regarding uniforms and personal grooming. Thank you, parents/carers, for your continued support in strengthening our community at St Mary's. This is a reminder that further responses may be necessary from the Junior and Senior Secondary Assistant Principals for students who do not meet these expectations.

  • Best of luck to the students representing the college this weekend at the Queensland All Schools Touch Competition. We look forward to hearing about your success.

  • Next week, our pastoral team will host Mental Health Week. This is a fantastic week for students to get involved in various activities that challenge their thinking and provide resources on strengthening their own personal skills to maintain good mental health. Should your child require additional support, we have an excellent team of counsellors at the college. Please reach out to us!

  • We have our final whole college assembly next week before our Year 12s head off to external exams. At this time, we will pass on our best wishes for the Year 12s and look forward to welcoming them back to the Graduation Mass on November 13.
