Year 9 Key Information 

• Student leadership applications must be submitted by the end of the second lunch this week, Friday, 11 October. The interview process will begin in Week 4. I look forward to hearing about your child's leadership qualities and how we can work with our leaders to improve students' experiences at the College. 
   
• Thank you to all the students who attended and competed in the annual inter-house Swimming Carnival. It was wonderful to see so many students involved and immersed in the spirit of the competition. 
   
• Year 9 students will participate in a Work Experience Induction session conducted by VPG in Period 3 in the Mujum Mundu theatre on Thursday, 10 October. Consider conversations with your child about what work experience they may be interested in for Year 10.

Whole of College Key Information

• Monday, October 7, is the King's Birthday Public Holiday. We hope you enjoy this final long weekend for the year, with students returning on Tuesday, October 8.
   
• It was beautiful to share in a high tea and celebrate our wonderful grandparents this week at our first assembly for Term 4. We loved hearing from Year 7 student Reid Slatcher, grandparent Mrs Jan O'Donnell and Campus Minister Mrs Helena Tutoe at the event. 
   
• It was excellent to see so many students return this week, meeting the college expectations regarding uniforms and personal grooming. Thank you, parents/carers, for your continued support in strengthening our community at St Mary's. This is a reminder that further responses may be necessary from the Junior and Senior Secondary Assistant Principals for students who do not meet these expectations. 
   
• Best of luck to the students representing the college this weekend at the Queensland All Schools Touch Competition. We look forward to hearing about your success.
   
• Next week, our pastoral team will host Mental Health Week. This is a fantastic week for students to get involved in various activities that challenge their thinking and provide resources on strengthening their own personal skills to maintain good mental health. Should your child require additional support, we have an excellent team of counsellors at the college. Please reach out to us! 
   
• We have our final whole college assembly next week before our Year 12s head off to external exams. At this time, we will pass on our best wishes for the Year 12s and look forward to welcoming them back to the Graduation Mass on November 13.
