School Reports

Time is flying, and we are already well into the school term! As we progress through this busy period, our teachers are working hard to assess student progress and prepare reports. These reports provide valuable insights into your child's learning journey, highlighting their achievements and areas for growth.

Reporting is the process of providing feedback to students, parents/carers and other teachers about student progress. The NSW Common Grade Scale is used to report student achievement in K-6 primary schools across New South Wales. It describes performance standards at the five grade levels:

Description

A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

C

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

E

The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few content areas and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.

Understanding the NSW Education Grade system is crucial for parents because it helps them support their child's learning journey effectively. Here’s why:

  • Clear Insight into Progress: The grading system provides a structured way to assess a child's strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring parents can track academic development.
  • Better Communication with Teachers: When parents understand the grading scale, they can have more meaningful discussions with teachers about their child's performance and how to support their learning.
  • Informed Decision-Making: Knowing how grades reflect achievement helps parents make informed choices about additional learning support or enrichment activities.
  • Encouraging Growth Mindset: Instead of focusing solely on high grades, parents can use the system to encourage effort, persistence, and improvement in their child's education.

Reports will be open to parents on Friday 20 June. We encourage you to take the time to review the reports  and use them as a conversation starter with your child about their learning.

Parent / Teacher / Student conferences will commence on Monday 23 June to

Wednesday 25 June. This is a great opportunity to celebrate their successes, address any challenges, and collaborate on ways to support their continued development.
