Junior School Report
Welcome back to Term 2
It was a pleasure meeting so many Year 7 parents at our recent Learning Conferences.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to discuss student progress and to connect about how students are settling into secondary school overall.
This term students will be consolidating their learning in all subjects. CAT’s (Common Assessment Tasks) will be completed and feedback given. Because we do continuous assessment, all CAT achievements and areas for improvement comments can be found on Compass and Learning Tasks.
At the end of the term, a summary report will be available.
As part of the transition process, some students will have the opportunity to return with me to their primary school to speak with Grade 5 and 6 students about their experiences in secondary school so far.
Delilah Kozakand Sosefina Aiolupotea , Year 7, along with Bek Howarth , Year 11, visited Scoresby Primary School and gave Grade 6 students a bit on an insight to what their time and secondary college has been like. They spoke with confidence and helped alleviate some concerns the students had. Congratulations to both girls – very proud of them.
This is a valuable chance for our students to build their public speaking skills while supporting younger students as they prepare for the move to secondary school.
As the weather is getting colder, can I please ask that you check the uniform policy in the school diary and that all items of clothing, especially jackets, are clearly labelled.
If a student requires a uniform pass for any item of uniform, please send a note to the Home Group teacher.
If a student is absent, please either ring the college's 24 hour Hotline (option 1) on the day or update the absence on Compass. No students should have an unexplained absence.
A note or medical certificate should accompany their return to school.
The school netball challenge continued yesterday with our Year 7 champions getting in and playing with great spirit and determination. The smiles on their faces were infectious. Thanks to the Year 7 supporters as well. It all made for a fun, engaging lunch break.
We also have Year 7 Interschool netball, soccer and badminton coming up on Wednesday 28 May.
It was fantastic to see how enthusiastic students were to sign up. I am looking forward to taking the girls netball team out and enjoying a day of fun, friendship and competition.
As always, if you have any questions regarding your child, please contact me the college or email me.
