If you're still having trouble, please check the School to Work Portal. Select Work Experience, then choose your industry and distance. You can always call into Careers for further assistance.
Work experience is compulsory at Scoresby Secondary College and helps build skills, gain confidence, explore careers, make connections, and better understand real-world workplaces and expectations.
This will also support students as they start to transition into VCE and explore pre-requites for university courses, opportunities within the VCE-VM program and is also an integral part for those wishing to complete a School Based Apprenticeship.
So far we have students going to trade positions, such as construction, electrical, science departments at universities, beauty salons, primary schools and retail operations.
Year 12 Career & Pathway Planning Well Underway
Year 12 preparation and pathway planning is well underway, with all students engaging in one-on-one meetings with the Careers team. These sessions aim to support students in understanding and preparing for their VTAC applications. Students are receiving valuable information on university options, recommended ATARs, and a variety of degree pathways available to them.
We are also highlighting Free TAFE courses, which offer excellent opportunities in high-demand industries and can provide strong future career prospects.
For students considering apprenticeships, we are providing guidance on where to look, as well as how to have conversations with current employers about continuing employment beyond school.
Looking ahead, VTAC lunchtime workshops and future pathway planning sessions will be held throughout Term 3.
These sessions will be available to all Year 12 students and are a vital part of their transition planning.
We strongly encourage all students to participate in these career guidance opportunities to make informed decisions about their futures.
ADF Visit – Career Pathways Session for Year 10 Students
On Wednesday 28 June representatives from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) will be visiting to speak with Year 10 students about a range of exciting career pathways. The session will cover options including, trades, engineering, and health within the ADF. As well as gap year programs in the ADF.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore what the ADF can offer in terms of skills, training, and future employment.
The session will also be open to interested Year 11 and 12 students, who can attend by registering in advance. Sign-up sheets will be available in the Senior Learning Centre.
