What's On In Foundation

PMP (PERCEPTUAL MOTOR PROGRAM)
This term, Foundation students have excitedly commenced the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), which will continue throughout Terms 2 and 3. PMP is designed to help children develop their awareness and understanding of themselves and the world around them through movement and sensory experiences.
The program includes a range of fun, multi-sensory activities that support the development of key skills such as gross and fine motor coordination, short-term memory, eye tracking, and language. Children are given opportunities to see, hear, touch, process information, make perceptual judgments, and respond accordingly.
Using a variety of equipment, the activities are carefully structured and include tasks like running, hopping, skipping, jumping, balancing, crawling, climbing, throwing, catching, bowling, and sliding.
Our children absolutely love PMP and it is always a highlight of the week! We are lucky to have the gym free Monday morning and Thursday afternoons for our sessions.
In order to run smooth sessions we desperately need a minimum of TWO PARENT VOLUNTEERS EACH SESSION! You will be guided with how to help. All you need is a working with children check and some enthusiasm!

MINI STREET
Last week, our Foundation students had a great time using their imaginations in our Mini Street. This special play area is set up like a small town, with shop fronts including a florist, café, theatre, library, and even a police station. Children enjoy pretending to be shopkeepers, chefs, actors, librarians, police officers, and more.
We were also excited to have students from Seedlings join us for a surprise play session. It was lovely to see the children making new friends, working together, and sharing ideas as they played.
Imaginative play is an important part of learning in the early years. It helps children develop oral language, sharing, taking turns, solving problems, and building confidence. It also helps them build vocabulary and think in creative ways!
We’re proud to give our students these fun and meaningful learning experiences and look forward to playing more in our Mini Street throughout the year!
