Maths Explorers
Last week our Year 3 and 4 Maths Enrichment students participated in the first Maths Explorers session. This is our first year of participation in Maths Explorers. It is run by the same organisation that run the Maths Olympiads. The year 3 and 4 students were in small groups to solve five maths problems. While the questions can be challenging the students really enjoyed this and are looking forward to the second Maths Explorer session in a few weeks time.
Literature Sleuths Presentation
Last week the Year 5 and 6 students finished off their Literature Sleuths enrichment sessions by doing and oral presentation on the books they have been reading. Year 5 have been reading The Phantom Tollbooth and Year 6 students read The Hobbit. Students got into the spirit of their presentations by dressing up. The presentations were fantastic!
STELA Presentation
On Wednesday afternoon, Elliott (Sustainability Captain) and Chelsea (Sustainability Monitor) presented in front of students from around 10 primary and secondary schools all over Victoria in the Student Environment Leadership and Action meeting. They shared stories about Wheelers Hill Primary’s Sustainability Journey and how we managed to achieve 5 Star Status. As questions rolled in, Elliott and Chelsea flawlessly answered each one (with only a little help from Mrs Bartleton) and helped encourage each school along their own sustainability journey. We are so proud to share all our achievements with other schools and couldn’t have done it without our expert presenters. Well done Elliott and Chelsea!
Premiers Reading Challenge
Halfway through the Challenge and we now have 10 classes who have completed the Challenge. (PEB, PKW, PLL, PLP, 1HQ, 1MC, 1SQ, 2CL, 4NA and 6SC). Congratulations to these classes- what a great effort.
Miss Mason and Lamia are happy to assist any students who have books to add.
