2024 Annual Report Now Available
Dear Families,
I’m excited to let you know that our 2024 Annual Report to the School Community is now available to read.
The Annual Report is a chance for us to share everything we achieved together in 2024—our progress in learning, wellbeing, and engagement, as well as some of the amazing highlights that made the year so special. It also gives a snapshot of how we’ve managed our finances to keep investing in great programs for our students.
Some standout moments from 2024 include our school winning a Victorian School Sports Award, the success of our new curriculum projects, the incredible growth of our Performing Arts and Sport programs, and the leadership shown by our students right across the school.
You can download a copy of the report from our website here: www.trafalgarps.vic.edu.au/annualreport
I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved together and grateful for the ongoing support of our wonderful school community. I hope you enjoy taking a look back at a fantastic year for Trafalgar Primary School.
Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.
Farewell for Now – Naomi Landmeter Appointed Acting Principal at Albert Street Primary School
Next week, we farewell Naomi Landmeter as she takes up the role of Acting Principal at Albert Street Primary School for the remainder of Term 2. This is a significant milestone and a well-earned opportunity for Naomi, whose leadership has shaped many of the most impactful programs at Trafalgar Primary School over the past five years.
Naomi joined Trafalgar PS in 2019 as a Learning Specialist and Junior School Team Leader, bringing a wealth of expertise from her previous role at Stockdale Road Primary School in Traralgon. She quickly became a cornerstone of our leadership team. During the early stages of the Tutor Learning Initiative, Naomi led our tutoring program in partnership with fellow Learning Specialist Megan Waters. Their work was recognised across Victoria, with Trafalgar PS ranked in the top 7% of high-growth schools for participating students.
Naomi went on to lead our whole-school approach to Literacy, before being promoted to Assistant Principal, where she has overseen critical areas such as Inclusion, Disability Support, Student Wellbeing, and Behaviour. Her thoughtful, strategic leadership has been widely recognised across the region, and her promotion is a testament to her capacity and the respect she has earned from colleagues system-wide.
While we will greatly miss Naomi’s daily presence, energy, and expertise, we are proud to see her take this next step in her leadership journey. She will be returning to the Latrobe Valley to lead Albert Street PS while their Principal is on long service leave—and we know she will make a lasting impact there, just as she has here.
Continuing Naomi’s Legacy – A Strong Support Structure for Student Wellbeing
At the same time, we know that teacher shortages continue to affect schools across the state. In Naomi’s absence, we have made the strategic decision not to appoint a temporary Assistant Principal, as doing so would likely create further staffing gaps we cannot fill.
Instead, we have taken this opportunity to strengthen our student wellbeing systems through a carefully designed Education Support Structure, which will remain in place beyond this term. We have established a team of Middle Leaders responsible for key areas of support:
- Disability Inclusion Leader – supporting students under the Disability Inclusion reforms
- Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) Leader – coordinating mental health referrals and support
- Social Emotional Learning Leader – delivering Tier 1 and Tier 2 social skills programs
- Community Liaison – connecting families with supports beyond the school gate
- First Aid Officer – managing day-to-day medical care and individual health plans
- Tutor – delivering targeted intervention in literacy and numeracy
This new structure ensures that every student continues to receive the right support at the right time. It allows our support staff to be deployed responsively based on student needs and learning priorities, strengthening both inclusion and academic growth.
We thank Naomi for her exceptional leadership and service to our school and wish her every success in this exciting new role. Trafalgar PS is stronger for her contributions, and we look forward to welcoming her back in Term 3.
Kind regards,
Cameron Nicholls
