We are proud to celebrate Year 6 student Emily’s outstanding achievements in equestrian sports, culminating in her participation at the 2025 PETstock Equestrian Victoria Interschool State Championships, held from April 9–13 at Boneo Park.
Emily qualified for the state championships following her impressive results at the Sale Show Interschool Competition, where she placed in multiple events and finished as the Runner-Up in her section. Riding her family's Welsh A Gelding, Arcadian Light the Way ("Roddy"), Emily demonstrated her growing skill and commitment to the sport.
At the State Championships, Emily competed across three classes:
Emily delivered an outstanding performance at the championships, earning two state-level ribbons. Her hard work and dedication to the sport were evident throughout the event, as she competed against some of the best riders in the state. This achievement highlights her commitment to excellence and is a testament to her skills as an equestrian rider.
We congratulate Emily on her success and dedication. Her ability to perform at such a high level reflects her hard work and perseverance. Emily’s achievement serves as a great example of what can be accomplished through determination and commitment, encouraging others at Trafalgar Primary School to pursue their own goals with similar dedication.
In Term 2 Music classes we are exploring the music elements of Volume, Pitch, Duration and Tempo. This will include covering subjects such as Exploration of music elements on music instruments and in electronic music, songwriting, soundscapes, ORFF and creating music for film.
Song of the Year
Also, in Terms 2 and 3, all music classes will be starting each lesson by listening and interacting with 2 songs and then voting for one of the songs. We start with 16 songs. The teachers and school staff also get a vote. The songs are the school’s bell music and songs are removed from the bell music when they lose. We will eliminate songs until a winner is chosen. The theme for this year’s vote is Music styles.
Here is the chart that will update each week - 2025 Best Song - Music genres
Unfortunately, our valued Vocal/Piano teacher Laura has had to leave us at TPS from Week 2 Term 2 this year. Laura has been an amazing Instrumental teacher and always positive presence around the music dept for many years. Laura has been an extremely important part of the Instrumental program and has made such a positive impact on so many students lives through music. University commitments have forced Laura to reluctantly leave. We wish her the best in her future endeavours.
Fortunately, I have been able to secure the services of 2 amazing vocal/piano teachers to replace Laura.
I’m Hailee! I’ve had 9 years of vocal training in styles like musical theatre and classical, and I love helping kids find their voice and confidence through music. I’ve been teaching Vocal/Piano at Trafalgar High School since 2023, and I’m excited to bring that experience into a fun and supportive space for younger learners.
Hi! I’m Georgia, I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and playing piano for 3+ years. I have plenty of experience with playing live and recording with some great bands. I’ve worked with the ABC and Triple J whilst continuing my schooling at Trafalgar High School. I enjoy every aspect of music and hope to pass my passion on to the instrumental students I teach at Trafalgar Primary School!
Georgia will be starting in Week 2 and Hailee will be starting in Week 4 of Term 2. Nothing changes in regard to enrolments or payments and Laura’s students are currently being seamlessly handed over to the new teachers.
You can find a full description of the instruments we offer, bios of all the teachers and a digital instrumental music form here - TPS Music site/Instrumental. You can also get a form from the front office, or just outside the music room at the Instrumental form letter box. Return it to the front office or into the letter box and we can get lessons started as soon as possible.
Any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

What a great start to Chemistry in Term 2!
As a whole school this term we will focus on SAFETY in the STEM room and why it is important. Our new lab coats have arrived and are already being used this week as well as our safety goggles.
Parents, please note that long hair must be tied back during STEM lessons. Students have been made aware that any unsafe behaviour in the STEM room will result in them missing out on physical participation in the activity.
Preps, grade 1’s and grade 2’s became mad scientists and mixed magical colour changing potions. Our main focus this term will be on the observable properties of different materials and how we make use of these for different purposes.
While grade 3’s and 4’s did the same but with a little more sophistication, investigating the pH of some household substances with universal indicator. Our main focus this term is on the physical features and properties of natural and man-made materials and their use in today's world including how substances can change from solid to liquid and gas or vice versa.
Grade 5’s and 6’s took it to the next level investigating acids and bases, and the reaction that takes place when they mix together. Our main focus this term is on the observable properties of solids, liquids and gases as well as chemical and physical changes.
I LOVE STEM…
Mrs B.
On ANZAC Day our school captains and some of our Junior Rotary Award students met at the Criterion Hotel to participate in the ANZAC Day march and service. Mrs Landmeter and Ms Morrison met the students, and they assembled for the march with many other Trafalgar Community and school groups. Led by our school captains, the students marched to the Trafalgar RSL and then listened to and participated in the ANZAC Day commemoration service. Our School Captains laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of our school community to pay our respects. It was wonderful to see several of our Trafalgar Primary School students in uniform representing other community groups at the service, such as Scouts, Cubs and the Junior Fire Brigade. Thank you to those students who participated.
It has been wonderful to welcome students and families back to Breakfast Club this term! We have had so many students visit us in the mornings for delicious toasties, cereals and milos to help kick start their learning day. We are so thankful for the many generous food donations provided by the community and from our sponsors - Foodbank, IGA Trafalgar, Bakers Delight Mid Valley and Gracie’s Bakery.
Due to these donations, Breakfast Club continues to be able to support families through the provision of Care Packages. We remind families that our Traf Pantry can be found in the Gym Foyer and continues to be stocked with many excellent products, available to anyone - and they’re free! If you would like to receive a Care Package or know of a family who may benefit, feel free to drop into our School Office, see Mrs Burns or Mrs Marslen.
Donations of Jam and Milo needed, please!
Thank you again to all families who have generously donated tins of Milo to our Breakfast Club. Any extra donations of Milo, as well as jam would be greatly appreciated to support our school community!
Looking forward to seeing you for brekky this term!
