Principal's Report

Rohan Cooper

There are so many great things to share with you about our school in this edition. It has been an excellent (and busy!) start to the term and there is so much more in store in coming weeks!

I would like to start by sharing a huge thank you to our volunteers who supported the local community to receive their ‘democracy sausage’ on election day last Saturday. Led by the highly organised Jo and Jesse Donaldson, our team sold over 800 sausages on the day, raising $4,000, which will go towards replacing the old water troughs with new fountains later this year.

Our community continues to deliver wonderful events for our school, with our traditional Mother’s Day Breakfast and Mother’s Day Lunch being hosted earlier today. A huge thank you to the breakfast team, led by Adele Karmy and Lucy Cronan and the lunch team, led by Jess Tuszynski, for their organisation of these events, and a happy mother’s day to all the mums in our community!

Our students haven’t missed out on all the fun lately either. Our Year 5 students had a wonderful camp experience at Phillip Island last week, whilst our students in Years Prep to 2 completed their annual water safety program at the new Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool. Our students in Years 3 to 6 also participated in the annual house cross-country running event yesterday, with thanks to Mr. Wink and our team for the successful running of this annual activity.

You will see a new addition to our newsletter this week; profiles from our new and returning School Council members for 2025. The School Council play a critical role in supporting the school and I hope you enjoy the opportunity to learn a little more about each of them in coming editions of this newsletter.

We have some upcoming events that I would like to share with you further:

I received a great message from one of our Year 3 students, Brody Joffe, earlier this term, regarding a fundraiser that he is participating in. Brody is supporting the ‘Helping Hoops Charity Shootout’ this month, raising money to bring basketball programs to underprivileged communities. Brody is training to shoot as many free-throws as he can in 15 minutes, hoping to beat his total of 136 last year! If you would like to donate to his charity, please follow the link here.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.

Rohan.
