Inclusive Play & Yard Practices

At APS, we believe the playground is for everyone! That’s why we’ve been introducing fun and friendly ways to help all students feel included during recess and lunch breaks. From our ever-popular Table Club, where board games and craft activities draw a crowd of creative thinkers, to structured play zones that give everyone a chance to join in, there’s something for every interest and energy level.

We thank our SUP leaders (Stand Up Program) and Year 6 buddies, who help keep the yard a welcoming space. These friendly faces are there to lend a hand, invite others into games, and make sure no one is left out. Whether it’s helping organise a game of down ball or chatting with someone new, their small acts of kindness go a long way toward building an inclusive and connected playground community.

Year 6 News - Intergenerational Action Team

Hello parents, we are Finn and Jayden from the Year Six Intergenerational Action Team (IAT). We are working towards helping APS students and grandparents connect through fun intergenerational activities. We are doing this because it is something that is common in other councils, but not in Yarra. This idea has many benefits such as greater understanding about the present and past, greater social interaction and more. If you know any grandparents of APS students, who might be interested, please invite them to come along on our designated days to work with us - the IAT. We will be able to have up to 20 grandparents per session. They will have fun with our students by playing some board games, baking and learning about each other's history.

Please email Megan (megan.tsilemanis@education.vic.gov.au) or Alan(alan.gallagher@education.vic.gov.au)  with the names of those interested.

🙏 Thank you 🤩
