Regional Tennis

On Thursday, 24th April, the SSV Regional tennis was held at the Traralgon Tennis Association. It was a fine sunny day with perfect conditions for some great tennis.

Our year 7 Boys team that successfully made it through to this round consisted of Archer Commadeur, Max Massaro, Declan Russell, and Ryan Perry.

The team came up against Lowanna College in their first match of the day. Some powerful shots, skilful play, and great determination saw the Mary Mackillop team come away with the win.

The boys then played Sale College in their second match. There were lots of long rallies and a high level of skill and talent on display during this match. Sale College were too good on the day and came away with the win.

Mr. Abbott and Ms Callister, who accompanied the boys on the day were very impressed with the quality of the tennis played and the high level of sportsmanship shown by the team. Congratulations on your efforts.

All the best to the Senior Girls' team, consisting of Aslyn Bye, Goamar Chol, Isabella Piasente and Clara Western, who have made it through to the SSV State Tennis and will play later on in May. - Ms. Joanne Knox, Learning & Teaching Leader - Vocational Pathways

Year 7/8 and Intermediate Girls Football

The Year 7/8 and Intermediate Girls Football teams competed yesterday, with both teams securing impressive wins against strong opposition. The girls played with determination, demonstrating clean skills, composure, and great sportsmanship throughout the day.

While the power and aggression of some other teams proved to be a decisive factor in later games, all players should be proud of their efforts. Congratulations to all the girls—it was a pleasure to see everyone enjoying themselves and representing the College with pride. - Mr Travis Newton, Sports Leader

AFL Rising Star Nomination for Former College Vice-Captain

Congratulations to former Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College student and College Vice-Captain, Xavier Lindsay (Class of 2024), who has been named the AFL Rising Star for Round 7.

Now playing for Melbourne, Xavier impressed in the team’s recent 20-point win over Richmond, collecting 21 disposals, 15 kicks, and 11 marks. Just six games into his AFL career, the 18-year-old has already made a name for himself with his composure and skill, averaging 18.6 disposals per game.

Selected with Pick 11 in last year’s National Draft from the Gippsland Power, Xavier has quickly established himself on Melbourne’s wing and continues to show his versatility across the field. We are proud to celebrate his achievements and look forward to following his exciting AFL journey.
