Team Teach Professional Learning for MMCRC staff

Mr. John Ryan and Mr. Chris Spencer are continuing to prepare and develop professional learning experiences for MMCRC staff pertaining to:

  • De-escalation techniques
  • Building staff awareness of self-restraint
  • Positive Behaviour Support approaches

Professional learning will be provided at the start the commencement of Term Three and during Semester Two.

Team Teach training helps staff to feel that:

  1. Positive environments empower individuals to safeguard themselves
  2. Empowering staff to safeguard those they are supporting
  3. Make dynamic risk assessments
  4. Recognise the best interest principle being paramount

Our school is constantly working on ways to understand our students. Schools need to be prepared.

If there is a crisis at home, be aware of the Six Stages of Crisis. Teachers, Parents, and Guardians know the children entrusted to their care.

Do it for Dolly Day

Mary Mackillop College will be acknowledging Do it for Dolly Day on the 9th of May. Dolly’s Dream advocates to stop bullying and achieve their goals of zero bullying in school. Dolly Everitt’s story of relentless bullying reminds us that our actions have consequences, and everyone deserves kindness and respect. To stop stories like Dolly’s occurring we can spark important conversations and speak up for those who can’t. Every conversation and every donation pave the way to a more respectful, safe, and bullying free school system. Our school will encourage a blue accessory on Friday the 9th of May in support of Dolly’s Dream and to initiate conversations around bullying.
