Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The term has started strongly. A particular credit is due for our Year 10 students who were admirable in their transition and work experience weeks. We sent students all over Hobart, undertaking a diverse range of occupations. The reports we have received have been overwhelmingly positive. The transition week is filled with a diverse range of experiences, from visiting the University to learning to dress for success. Thank you to all the staff who contributed to the planning of this event, particularly Ms Gurney, who submitted 175 separate risk assessments!

Rehearsals are well under way for the College musical, School of Rock, with enthusiastic singing and dancing echoing down the corridors after school. We currently have students on the Sunshine Coast as part of our dancing program. By all accounts, they are having a wonderful time. Let's not forget Noah and Olive in Japan for three months as part of our Japanese exchange program.

We are planning for our Creating Futures Expo on Tuesday 27 May. This is a key date to start subject selection and planning for 2026. Yes, we are at that stage already! We have also recently submitted some planning to Catholic Education Tasmania regarding future capital works at the College and I hope that we are in a position soon to share this more widely with the community. Our enrolments are extremely strong, so it is a vital part of our future planning.

The AFL goals are now up on site. A little overdue considering some of the AFL talent that have graced the corridors of MacKillop over the years! It has been a big focus over the last six months to improve our options for students, as per survey feedback.
