Our Preps Are Off to a Wonderful Start!
What an exciting beginning to the school year it has been in Prep! Our newest learners have settled in beautifully and we are so proud of the way they are learning the routines and expectations of school life. Over the past week, students have been building their independence by practising morning procedures, caring for their belongings, and confidently participating in classroom activities. Arriving at school on time each day helps your child begin the morning calmly, join in important learning from the start, and feel confident in their daily routine.

A big focus in the first weeks of school has been learning how to play together, share spaces and materials, and begin forming positive friendships. Students have been practising learning each other’s names, taking turns, using kind words, and including others in their play. These important social skills help our Preps feel safe, connected, and ready to learn as part of our classroom community.

In both Maths and Literacy, Preps have been learning how to use mini whiteboards to share their thinking, practise new skills, and show their learning in a fun and engaging way. They have also been exploring technology by scanning QR codes to access interactive maths games, which has been a very exciting part of our learning program!

We have been busy exploring patterns in Maths. They have been creating their own patterns using colours, shapes, movements, and classroom materials, and learning how to identify the repeating part that makes a pattern continue. It has been wonderful to see students explaining their thinking and confidently spotting patterns around the classroom and in everyday life.

A special highlight in our classroom has been creating our Belonging Wall. This space celebrates each child and helps our students feel connected, valued, and proud to be part of our Prep community.

As we continue to settle into the school year, we kindly remind families of a few important items:
Hats are essential for outdoor play. Students without a hat are unable to play on the playground and will be asked to play under cover.
Please label everything — including jumpers, hats, drink bottles, and lunch boxes — to help us return lost items quickly.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we begin this exciting learning journey together. We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead in Prep!

The Prep Team
Over the past few weeks, the Year 1 students have settled beautifully into their new classes.
We have been practising our classroom routines and learning about our school expectations to help create a positive learning environment. Students have enjoyed a range of getting-to-know-you activities to build connections with their teacher and classmates.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring place value, focusing on understanding the tens and ones in two-digit numbers. In Reading, students have been revising letter sounds and learning new digraphs, where two letters work together to make one sound.
In Writing, we have been reading about a boy who tried to shrink his name and discussing how his feelings changed throughout the story. We are looking forward to a wonderful term of learning and growth together.

The Year 1 Teachers
Grade 2 has made a smooth and positive transition into the 2026 school year, and it has been wonderful to see students settling into routines so well.
The first week was spent taking part in the Start Up program, where we visited the expectations in the classroom when reading, writing, and using maths equipment. Students have started to build relationships with their year 2 teachers and their classmates.
The School Wide Positive Behaviour Matrix has been reintroduced to the students and families will notice that awards are being achieved. As a reminder, students are expected to bring their hats to school each day for outdoor activities, as well as their book packs as part of their daily organisation.
Library bags are required on library days to ensure books are cared for appropriately. At the beginning of each morning, students should line up promptly and calmly when they hear the music, ready to start the day in an organised and respectful manner.
Thank you to families for your continued support at home to get students to school on time. Students are also participating in their specialist classes of French, Art, PE and Performing Arts.
A reminder that take-home readers/ reading homework will begin next week.
Please remember that if you have any questions don’t hesitate to see your child’s classroom teacher.
