What an extraordinary week it has been! As I write this, I am filled with immense pride and excitement as we celebrate the official opening of our college and the arrival of our very first cohort of students. Our foundation Year 7 students have stepped through our doors with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a wonderful spirit that has brought our values of Belong, Believe and Become to life.

These first few days have been nothing short of magical. Watching our students navigate their new environment, forge friendships, and embrace the opportunities before them has been truly heartwarming. They will forever hold a special place in the history of our college.

Behind the scenes, our dedicated staff have worked tirelessly to ensure students have a great transition. Our teachers are working to design engaging, rigorous curriculum that will challenge and inspire our students. They are crafting learning experiences that are ensuring that every lesson reflects our commitment to cultivating compassionate hearts, curious minds and confident leaders.

Our support staff have been equally instrumental in creating a welcoming and safe environment. From ensuring our facilities are ready, to establishing the systems that will support our students, every member of our team has contributed to making this dream a reality.

It was wonderful to meet families at the First Day Conferences. Our PEARL teachers appreciated the opportunity to get to know parents, carers and our students.

Students have been participating in a range of activities to help them transition into the 'Birranga Way'.

This week students have been participating in literacy and numeracy testing to determine how we can best tailor our instruction and curriculum to best suit student needs.

Just a reminder that students are responsible for locking their lockers. We advise against bringing valuables to school.

Important Reminders

Getting to school - please do not drop your students at the front of the college. The drop off zone is just before you turn right into Fruition Way. Please see the section later in this newsletter for more details. Students should also make sure they lock their bikes and scooters in the bike racks available.

Lockers - students are responsible for locking their lockers. We advise against bringing valuables to school.

Supervision before and after school - students are actively supervised by staff from 8.35 to 3.20pm. Outside of these times there is no supervision.

Contacting the college - We ask that you allow teachers 2 school days to provide you with a detailed response to general queries. Your PEARL teacher is usually the first point of contact. We will endeavour to respond to urgent matters within 24 hours where possible.  You can find further information in our communication policy found on our website www.birrangacollege.vic.gov.au.

Family details - Please let the College know about any change of address or phone numbers.
