Reminders & Homework

Reminders:
- Please ensure that students are bringing their red reader bags each day. These will be used to send home readers, as well as some hard copy communication and assessment pieces.
- Please ensure the children bring their hats to school every day during all the months that include the letter 'r'.
The Homework expectations for this term are:
- Hearing your child read their take home book every night. After they have read, ask them to retell what happed at the beginning, middle and end of the story. Also ask questions focusing on who, what, when, why and where. Try to encourage them to relate the text to something in their lives.
- We will be sending home readers once we have completed our beginning of the year reading and phonics assessments. We will also be sharing with you examples of questions to ask your child to help your discussions about their texts.
- Playing Maths and counting games with your child. Michael Minas, Maths Consultant, provides a wide range of engaging, age-appropriate games with easy-to-follow videos. Link: Operations Games (F-2) — Love Maths
- Explore exciting websites and iPad apps like: Nessy (Online Literacy Platform) and Matific (Online Maths Platform). More information and student login details will be provided during the term.
Discussing the school-wide behaviour expectations outlined in the booklet given out at parent-teacher interviews in week 3.
We look forward to teaching your wonderful children this term.
Kind regards,
