Principal's Report
Why is the seahorse our school logo?
How insightful was the original School Council who selected the seahorse to be our emblem?Despite their small size, seahorses are symbols of strength, power and perseverance.
Seahorses teach us that we have the resources within us to overcome adversity, no matter how small we feel. Seahorses also invite us to pay attention to our emotions and needs.

Congratulations to all of the students in Years 4, 5 and 6 who participated in the house swimming last week. Thank you also to the staff who assisted at the event and a special thank you to Kirsty Hall and Dani Jones who went to the pool very early to organise the area before the students arrived.
A full report on this event can be found in the PE page of this newsletter.
Good luck to the 27 students who have progressed to the District swimming level. I would like to wish these children the best of luck tomorrow as they compete at MSAC in Albert Park.

Leadership Conference at Beaumaris Secondary College
On Tuesday 12 March, our School Captains will attend a Leadership conference at the MCC Pavilion.
The students will work with leaders from other schools and will be involved in a Q&A session with the College Captains, team building activities, brainstorming and planning for the year ahead. The students will also be addressed by a guest speaker and the college Principal, Mrs Debby Chaves.
New Staff Coming
We have two new members about to join our staff.
This weekend, Bonnie and Ziggy are heading to Benalla for their therapy dog training.
Bonnie is a Bernedoodle and is owned by Claire Badley, and Ziggy is a Cavoodle and is owned by Donna Carter.
Bonnie and Ziggy are getting to know each other before their long drive to Benalla on Friday night.
I would like to thank Sheridan Duffy-Fainu’u for securing funding from AndreaGolshevsky, the School Focused Youth Service Family Life Ltd to cover one of the training costs, and I would like to thank the Parents’ and Friends for funding the training of the second dog.
I hope it won’t be too hot this weekend as Donna and Claire are sharing their accommodation with the two dogs!
We will have a therapy dog team with our Wally, Ziggy and Bonnie.
Curriculum Day
This Friday is Curriculum Day. The focus of this day will be on the Programme of Development and Transdisciplinary Learning. The staff will also be reviewing the Standards and Practices of the PYP.
I do hope that everyone enjoys this long weekend. When we return to school on Tuesday it really will be countdown to the fete with only 12 days to go until the big day.
A reminder that Tuesday 12 March is School Photo Day.
Kind regards
Sherril Duffy
