Parking and Bus Travel

Student drop-off/pick up at Willowbank Road

To ensure the safety of all in our school community and that traffic can flow through the loop at the back of the school, we ask that parents/carers collecting students at the end of the school day either park in a designated space within the car park or on the street on Willowbank road (again in designated parking spaces).  The loop is a no standing area for vehicles as there is high student movement (pedestrian and cycling) at the end of the school day, as well as it needing to be clear should emergency services vehicles need to access the hydrant points.

Bus Travel

The School Bus Program is provided for students to travel from home to school & vice versa only.

Students are reminded to travel on their allocated bus only.  In an emergency, our bus rolls must be accurate and up to date.

The logistics & emergency management aspect of the school bus program make it impossible to operate school buses effectively if students are not travelling on their allocated buses.

Students from the same family must travel on the same bus.

Students are also reminded to be at their bus stop 5 mins before the scheduled time in the morning.

Bus Pass

Provision for students needing to travel on different buses for sporting / work / social reasons is not possible.

If a student needs to travel on a one-off basis, we may allow students to travel on a bus, only if they present to the office with written permission from their parent / carer the day before travel is needed, and only then, if space is available on the bus.

One-off bus travel will not be permitted on the same day, except for in an emergency, and families must email the school office gisborne.sc@education.vic.gov.au to get approval from an Assistant Principal.

Notes from parents are not to be handed to bus drivers. Students will not be permitted to request a bus pass at the end of the day or in bus loop.  Buses will not be delayed waiting for students trying to organise a bus pass at the end of the day.

Students travelling on unallocated buses without a bus pass, may be removed from the School Bus Program completely.

Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating Days

Gisborne Secondary College is on the Bushfire At-Risk Register as a Category 4 school.

This means that on Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating Days the College will be closed.

Staff will not be in attendance and buses will not run.  Buses for the primary schools will not operate.

College Entrance / Bus Loop / School Crossing

No vehicles other than school buses & emergency services are allowed to enter the Bus Loop from 3:00pm until the last bus has left the bus loop on a normal school day.

Vehicles are not to park at the entrance of the school during this time.  There are parking areas on either side of the entrance available for parents/carers and visitors.  Please do not enter the bus loop or use the exit gate during this time.

Please do not park on Melton Rd at the crossing or on either side of the school crossing.
