Art and Technology

The year so far.....

The Arts and Technology domain has kick started the year with our students getting involved with the Arts and Technologies through classes and the Art Factory. It has been exciting to share the joy and excitement of opening the Factory for 2024 with our young enthusiastic artists.

The Year 7’s and 8’s have all been involved in an elective program with subjects ranging from Wood, Food, Art and Textiles in which amazing creations have been evolving.

Mrs Hoogenraad’s Year 9 Art class has delved into the area of portraiture with students looking at inspiring people in our local and global community. We have some future Archibald prize applicants within the art room! Highly inspiring works have been created already and we’re looking forward to seeing all the portraits in the end of year exhibition at the Art Factory.

The Year 10 Art and Photography classes are off to Heide Museum of Art in Bulleen to see the current Lee Miller exhibition that focuses on black and white photography. Miller was part of the surrealist movement. They will also be walking around the sculpture park to engage in all aspects of art.

Artmaking and Exhibiting are currently establishing the exploration of their folios and creating experiments based on their concepts and ideas that they are investigating for Unit 3-4. They are soon to visit the Triennale at the National Gallery of Victoria and interact with the current exhibition for inspiration and to learn about curating.

Media students have started well, working on their practical film production tasks and looking forward to also seeing these productions on the big screen soon!

Creative times ahead in arts and technology!
