Year 7 Transition

What a start!

What a wonderful start to the year it has been, Year 7. It started day one where all students gathered in the stadium for a whole school assembly. This can be very daunting for some of our young students but all coped excellently. They then broke up into their form classes, where they got to spend time learning how to use Compass, getting their lockers and giving their teachers an insight into who they are.

We then attended Ferngully Lodge on Day three for a team building day. Students tested their resilience and team work as they participated in activities ranging from commando course, zipline, high ropes and giant swing. This was a fantastic way to see our cohort step outside of their comfort zone.

It has not slowed down since week one. The students have been working hard in all their classes and engaged in all topics taught. They have participated in many hands-on learning activities ranging from textiles, woodwork, art and cooking. They have even made hot chocolate in science where they were investigating how quickly the temperature would drop. They, of course, would not have been able to do this without their Bunsen Burner licence.

They have also represented the school well at our swimming carnival. It was good to see so many smiling faces on the day and a high participation rate. Especially in the novelty events where their competitive nature came out as they were chasing corks in the water.

After what has been a fantastic start to the year I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year will bring for our Year 7 students.
