Term 1 Information:

Term 1 co-curricular sport has begun with many students enjoying their first game last week. This term we have 29 teams competing in Touch Football, Basketball, Tennis, Water Polo and Volleyball, plus many Rowing crews and Aerobics teams. It has also been wonderful to see so many students attending swimming, athletics, Pilates and the strength and conditioning sessions.

Just a reminder that you can locate all Term 1 team lists, venue maps, games fixtures, training information and results on Loreto Connect in the Senior Sport section. You can also access training and game details on the Loreto Connect App by clicking on the sport tile.

Swimming Trials

Well done to all the Year 3-6 classes who had their swimming time trials at the Norwood Swim School yesterday.

It was great to see so many students willing to jump in the water and have a go. The girls recorded some fast times and it looks as though we’ll have hotly contested swimming carnivals coming up later this term!

Many thanks to Ms Edwards for organising, to Chris Harkness for arranging all the buses and to the classroom teachers for being so accommodating.

Summer Netball

The season will be winding up soon for most teams however the teams in the Sub Junior divisions (our current Year 6 and 7 teams) may have the chance to play finals. Teams need to finish in the top four of their division to qualify for finals with the format as follows:

  • Semi Finals - Friday March 8
  • Preliminary Final – Friday March 15
  • Grand Final – Friday March 22

Check the Eastern District Netball Association website for premiership tables, www.ednetball.com.au

Surf Life Saving

Well done to Imogen Fluder in Year 4 who completed the 400m ocean long swim with her Surf Life Saving Club! She was a bit apprehensive but came in 2nd of the girls in her age group and is now looking forward to the SLS State Championships in March.

Student Achievements and Performances

If your daughter is involved in a sport or activity outside of Loreto that you would like to share, please send details through to Ben.Johnswood@loreto.sa.edu.au.

This could be club sport or dance, calisthenics, gymnastics, swimming, chess, surf lifesaving, horse riding, athletics, surfing, cycling, skateboarding, taekwondo, Lego building… basically any activity you can think of! We would love to be able to recognise their performances in our newsletter. It’s also great for other girls to see all the different activities that are out there and they might see something they’d like to try.
